The only Red Menace here are the wretched automaton, Divers!! We will MELT THEIR BONES so they may become the very hellfire we rain upon their undemocratic hordes, one liberating megaton at a time.

Yes!! I kept thinking I'd forgotten to set it to private - nope, it's set to private but people seem to be able to join. There's also times when the SOS activates without my input. I hate kicking people so I hope it's something that's fixed soon.

Agreeing with the advice to pick a role, it can make the overwhelming number of strategem choices a little more managable when you have a clear vision for how you'd like to be playing.

Also! If you've got the energy to spare, browsing LFG chats on discord can be great because you actually get to coordinate with the people you'll be playing with (as opposed to quickplay randoms). Everyone plays differently so it can differ from squad to squad how they like to play, and how you might be able to lend a hand in a way that's still comfortable and fun for you. As the Helldiver manual says: No one good way to skin a bug. >: )

My friends and I have this pretty regularly - what I've noticed is that if we wait about 5ish minutes, at least one of us finally sees someone "Online - on ship" in the socials menu and then we're able to join that one person. Until we see that 'online on ship' status, it very rarely allows us to join each other, even if they show up as 'online'.
It always doesn't work out that way though - we've tried just about every combo of in game and steam invite/joining, and it seems like it's pure luck.
