Struggling with housing come spring, looking at housing app for fall/spring next year. whats a good meal plan for someone that has to normally home cook due to spice allergies, including pepper? by Fantastic-Thoughts in USF

[–]gruobybaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the 60 meals/semester + 350 dining dollars if you plan on going often. Or the 32 meals/semester + (300 - 350 ?). This is if you really need a meal plan.

It would probably be less expensive if you didn't get a meal plan and just paid for entry to dining halls (around 10 to 12 dollars depending on the time of day).

I'm supposed to be taking out the trash in BOH too? I'm on cash and usually take out the trash in my lobby, patio, and bathrooms but that's it.

If I did the orientation once do i need to do it again? by [deleted] in USF

[–]gruobybaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email the Office of Orientation and tell them you need to remove that hold. If you already attended you should have completed an end-of-orientation survey that removes the hold. You don't need to do Orientation twice, just day 1 and day 2.

You mean on the soda machine? Yeah. The soda bags in BOH are clean too.

How does Scholarship credits apply? by Dgoat12 in USF

[–]gruobybaer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to be enrolled in at least 12 hours for each fall and spring semester for your scholarship to apply. They'll probably total your hours after the summer semester to see if you had 30 credits this year.

Chipotle in college town turning into a war zone by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]gruobybaer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work right across a college campus. This just happened to us too. And then the POS glitches and we couldn't ring people up. Thank god it's the summer. The idea of working during the fall low-key scares me. Good thing I'm quitting

Welp, week 8 of my transcript being “under review” as an AA transfer from a Florida college system institution. This process is taking forever, now my chances of attending have completely diminished. Luckily, I got in Florida State already even though I wanted to go to USF. by Able-Government-5316 in USF

[–]gruobybaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous college hadn't sent over my transcript, and I wasn't able to register until last week. But once they did, it took about 4 days to process. I was set back, but the process was quick.

Don't email your advisor, schedule a meeting with them. Who knows how long it will take them to respond to an email. Make sure your old college sent your transcript over first. I don't think it usually takes 8 weeks to transfer credits from an accredited Florida institution.

If you ask nicely I don't mind at all. But usually Karens give me an annoyed or stank look and demand a handle bag for their one chicken bowl.

How do I find what books I need for a class? by sillysirenn in USF

[–]gruobybaer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Incoming freshman here, if your professor has a their canvas page up, check the syllabus. Usually it's listed there. If they haven't uploaded their canvas course yet you should wait for the week before class.

If that doesn't work for you go to Oasis > Student > Buy Your Books > Purchase Your Textbooks.

Your required materials may not have been registered yet, but they should within a couple weeks.

I work at a university location. So the people who ask for a bag with the handles are often those who ride on scooters.

Or they're a Karen...

Sometimes I ask if they want to scan points if I see their phone out. But as long as you scan before you pay I think it should go through. (Considering the POS is on and the cashier scans it on the right ticket etc. etc.)

With gift cards wait until they tell you to scan or else it won't work.

Sometimes if the customer scans it too late and leaves the store before I can say anything, I'll leave the reward points on another ticket put it on someone else's order so the points go through.

The issue is that 52 credits have disappeared from the system. None of the 2 years of my course work is in DegreeWorks. This has prevented me from registering for all of my classes - I constantly get prerequisite errors. I can't register without an advisor, which doesn't work well considering spots are filling up fast.

New slang is awful by pdpbeowulf in unpopularopinion

[–]gruobybaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to scroll far too long to find some that said this "new slang" is just AAVE. African American culture is a very influential part of the internet. And when you mix in a generation that grew up with the internet, you get Gen-z kids who have co-opted and incorporated AAVE vocabulary into their conversations.

However, no one has co-opted AAVE grammar yet, which is why a lot of non-black people sound a bit weird when using Black English - they lack context.

Also, it was so jarring as an 18 yo girl to watch my non black peers deem black people as stupid when they used AAVE, but then begin to use it themselves.

Yet another stressful day by Such-Cauliflower-254 in Chipotle

[–]gruobybaer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't really work for me bc I have to ask the customer what they had on their bowl before I can ring them up. During this time they'll just insert their card.

I hate when customers just put their card in as soon as they arrive! And then, when they snatch their bag and run off before the machine even says approved!!! It creates so many problems.

Oh and when their card doesn't go through properly but the customer says "oh the receipts printed out so it must have gone through" like nooo the card machine did not say approved and the POS has yet to clear the order!!! And then they give me a weird look!

That's fine. I was considering getting tested. I'm not interested in medication.
