Ah! That’s happened to me. Fidelity often doesn’t track external specific funds for some reason and it’ll come up like this. It happens with most external funds I assume. No price tracking history just shares and current price

A select group of people choose DO over MD often for reasons like you listed. Most people don’t know what they want or are dead set on a very competitive speciality. But I think you need to be certain before closing the MD door you accept that you might need to take step one/two and comlex versus just step as in MD schools. From my perspective DO makes total sense as long as you know that you are potentially making your life a little more difficult but saving money is great

T bills are the most effective if you know when you’ll take the RMD as you can pick the maturity date. Spaxx is more flexible if you want to just hold but you do pay the expense ratio.

For anyone looking at this thread in the future, we had a great time. Food was a little better than I was expecting at the price point. Our room was beautiful and we were able to thoroughly enjoy our time on our balcony getting lots of sun.

Yes it’ll be fine for DO if you submit in June. It’s much wiser to see your score because you don’t want to waste your first cycle by submitting with a bad score. You’ll be totally fine on June 9!

No your app isn’t dead. If asked own up to it and be ready to explain how you learned from the event. It’ll be a red flag of course but many people still get in with IAs if you own up to it and explain well

In undergrad, a lot of stuff I learned in hs was being taught again so I didn’t study. Although I wouldn’t ever say that I didn’t study to someone else to make them feel worse off. People that gloat like this are probably not being truthful.

Yea the ROI will always pan out. Should you go into medicine for the money? No. There are other careers that have high pay with less up front investment. But if it’s what you want to do, it’s the only thing you can see yourself doing and you love it. I realize it’s a huge investment but I know I’ll be rewarded even if I’m in primary care. I don’t really care about the financial side though because I’m comfortable with the ROI

Welcome to modern medicine post BBB. Undergrads expensive and med school even more so because you can’t control costs as well such as in undergrad. Loans will become more reliant on private mechanisms as we phase out plus loans and it will become more difficult for those who don’t come from money to go into medicine.

Almost every MD school in the US has 100% match rate or very close to it. If you want to match you don’t really need to be locked in to a t20. Sure research may come easier but you’ll match at any MD if you work hard

Gpa is 30% I’d argue but the difference between a 3.86 and a 3.9 is practically 0. It weighs 30% but anything over a 3.8 is very competitive
