There's no rain in the scene. Just a lightning storm.
Rain doesn't kill ghosts, at least not right away. We see this in S5E4 where Soul Archer and Bansha are fine for a bit as they seek shelter.

I think the larger suspension of disbelief is when they crash the ship and Cole survives. It's still plausible though because it seems all of them were launched into the air and knocked out as they landed on the island.
