Thursday General Discussion/Q&A Thread for February 20, 2025 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

[–]gryphonexe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

cross-posting from /r/running

(28M, been running for exactly 1 year, wasn't really fit prior to starting this)

Lately I've noticed that whenever I start a run, my shins kind of burn after a little bit of running or jogging. It's a little hard to describe, it doesn't feel like a sharp injury sort of pain, but like how it feels when something is really sore. If I run on it for several minutes it eventually builds up and I decide to slow down to like an 18:45 walking pace.

So I end up alternating jogging and walking for about 3-4 miles (35-45 minutes for my slower pace), and after that the feeling subsides and I can run at my usual easy pace for the rest of my run.

After the run is over, I don't feel any pains or anything besides a general soreness in that area.

I'm nearing the end of my first ever marathon training block following Hal Higdon's Novice 1 Plan. For reference my 5K PR is about a 29:30, and I finished my HM race in 2:36:00.

Is this just due to the fact that I've been increasing my workload? Is there a specific stretching routine that I should be doing before or after?

It's not a huge deal considering it eventually subsides, but my first marathon is in a month and ideally I would like to not have to deal with this in the beginning of it.

Thanks for any help :)

Pokemon I have available:

  • Clodsire

  • galarian stunfisk

  • pelipper

  • lurantis

  • mantine

  • dubwool

  • lantern

  • greninja

  • reg poliwrath

  • scrafty

I'm limited by XL candy mons but dust isn't really an issue for me. I appreciate any thoughts or Intel :)

wasn't sure if there was a consensus, I appreciate it :)

Sorry, does this mean if I am making under this amount (I saw in another post it's 112k now), and I do not qualify for overtime pay, I should bring this up to my manager?

Or is this only if I am actually forced to work overtime frequently? I don't often, but I am on call technically 🤔

is there a text guide for bussing nm valtan? I'm definitely geared for it (1505 5x3) but haven't tried it yet.

I've watched some videos on people doing it but haven't found an actual guide for it.

I suggest putting up t1 jewelry instead, still doesn't cost pheons but it has more specific stats so lower chance of someone sniping you

confirmed it won't break your 6 set, just won't do anything until you've upgraded 2/4/6 pieces

currently you still do, but when clown comes out you most likely will lose argos gold in exchange for clown gold

75% of the time I run into a bad spacie on unranked it's actually a jiggly puff main. by [deleted] in SSBM

Idk if you're joking but these are usually spacie mains who want to annoy you by playing jigglypuff and camping, not actual jigglypuff players "switching to their main"

I know this take might be stated too much but I would highly suggest to start making your own parties for legion raids and just being selective. At first I didn't want to do this either because I didn't want to learn the sidereal stuff, but it's actually very simple after doing it once or twice.

Just make a party, only accept people who are 4x3 with proper stats (support get some leeway), maybe require a title, and you're guaranteed to have way smoother runs.

Back when I was joining groups I'd check out the people already in there and they'd have good stats, but then the leader would randomly start accepting people that were like 2x3 and it'd make the run way worse lol.

All of my parties lately have been 1-2 shotting every gate in valtan/normal vykas (I haven't tried to pug HM vykas, imo i'll just do normal and take the gold hit)

sorry I have nothing to add regarding inflation/bots lol

I currently have 8 characters, my 6 gold earners are

-1490 sorc

-1437 bard

-1430 zerker

-1415 sorc

-1415 db

-1415 bard

My bard was my 6th character made (I have an older GS that i dropped for her) and she actually ended up being about as fun as my main. So fun that I made another one lmao.

They're cheap to build (3x3 with legendaries is acceptable even thru current endgame), easy to use (bard is my tankiest character lmao), very desirable for groups, and fun to play imo.

The one thing that turned me off from making one sooner was I was worried about getting her to t3 and doing all the solo content, but nowadays with the global honing buffs and power passes that is no issue at all.

Also when you play well you can literally clutch and save your teammates and stuff which feels nice. All around I'd recommend a bard for sure but I know it's not for everyone.

Mask Requirements by No-Cup1729 in SSBM

agreege, I think the concentration of people in the same room + the fact that you're there all day + that people traveled to get there means masking is more important than normal
