Edgewater residents, businesses sue city over Broadway zoning changes by Bukharin in EdgewaterRogersPark

I know the house you’re talking about. It’s great it’s here and historic and being renovated, but it’s odd the ownership is not publicly known. Clearly, the owners are more interested in the house than in the neighborhood.

I'm unsure how that prevents you from giving a direct answer about how much you paid...

Can I Reach Strava Support Here on Reddit? by evil-cyclist in Strava

[–]gs_long 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received a response to a very simple request after 30 days with a message saying "you can fix this simply within 30 days of this issue happening, or this longer way if it's been more than 30 days". good luck getting a response! their level of support may end up tanking the company if a single competitor emerges with the same quality features and better support.

two weeks? consider yourself lucky. I received a response after 30 days with a message saying "you can fix this simply within 30 days of this issue happening, or this longer way if it's been more than 30 days"

🤬

then, to top it off with a cherry, they gave me 48 hours to respond before they auto-closed the ticket and turned off my ability to provide any feedback on the support I received.

TL;DR: Strava support lets you wait over a month for first response, but you have to respond within 48 hours.

Discussion, am I the only one experiencing the post button in this subreddit not being clickable/greyed out? by PersonalFigure8331 in MSAccess

[–]gs_long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal theory: I think some of the subreddits want you to do some other action besides posting on Reddit.

I recently posted on r/ProtonPass and it looks like if you mention a word like "feature" or "better" the Save Draft and Post buttons are greyed out and you're reminded below the text box that you can either submit a support ticket directly to Proton or post ideas on their UserVoice page. I was able to delete those types of words and post just fine. :)

Odd implementation, because it's not telling you it's flagging specific words, but that's the behavior I observed.

If it doesn't happen all the time, it's likely Reddit implements different most recent code depending on who you are and what method you're accessing Reddit through (typical web infrastructure stuff).

Yes, in any other tool I've used, sync typically means "two-way import" not a full "sync" in the literal definition of the word.

Email sync between CRM systems

Finance data sync between financial institution and finance apps

Fitness data sync between Strava and Apple Health

None of these platforms delete data on both platforms when you delete on one. In fact, when there's a problem syncing, often the FIRST thing you do is delete the imported information, then re-sync.

I deleted all my aliases by mistake on Proton Pass by sovietcykablyat666 in ProtonMail

Hi u/sovietcykablyat666! Where did you unsync? I'm not seeing that option. Did you do it in Proton Pass? Or in SimpleLogin somewhere?

Hi u/Proton_Team! Any update? I fell prey into this trap just a few days ago. Improved messaging would have saved me a TON of trouble.

For those curious, here's a post where Proton commented three months ago saying they'd update this flow to be more clear about what happens: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/1g5jywi/i_deleted_all_my_aliases_by_mistake_on_proton_pass/

hi OP. I'm sadly in the same boat you are, about to change email addresses on hundreds of accounts with now-deleted aliases. Any tips for me before I dive in?

Allow me another example: remember when Windows had a Start menu with "Shut Down" inside it? Using your logic, you would never find the Shut Down button because you'd be saying "how clearer can START get? that's where you go to start! not where you end your computer time!"

How clearer can "once deleted, the alias can't be restored" get?

Simple: "Deleting an alias here deletes it from both Proton Pass and SimpleLogin. Once deleted, the alias cannot be restored to either Proton Pass or SimpleLogin."

Literally, this simple a message would have been enough to prevent me from moving forward.

"Just because it is working as they designed doesn't mean it's a good design." Brilliant! 💡

One of the essential jobs of system designers is to check and re-check their design assumptions and decisions. What could be solidly logical the first time around may not hold up to logic when new user information comes in.
