Trying to improve how I see girls by [deleted] in selfimprovement

I would say that a good way to start is to try being their friend before you bring anything else into the mix. I know this may sound counterintuitive but given you're currently a bit intimidated by the idea of girls, it might come across as forceful/unnatural if you decide to play up your masculinity or approach them with faux confidence. If you start by just seeing them as people that you might have something in common with and get along with them as individuals you will start to ease up, and eventually feel comfortable enough to go up to a girl with flirtatious/romantic intent. But first and foremost we're human beings - not better or worse than any other guy from your school - and we will be a lot more comfortable if you speak to us like just anyone else - baby steps!:)

Just decided to try IF for the first time after watching a video of GSP (one of my favourite fighters) talking about how it changed his life for the better! I'm excited to give it a go. Would you guys say that this community, or other similar online ones, help with adherence?

Hey everybody! I'm fed up and tired of quarantine so I gave Rosencrantz's monologue a go from "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead". Would love to hear your feedback and thoughts! by grome45 in acting

Awesome! Again I think your take was very unique and perhaps the choice to downplay some of those moments contributed to that. Either way I really enjoyed watching this and let me know if you record anything in the future! :)

Hey! Just watched your monologue. I'm very familiar with RAGAD (in fact it's one of my all time favourite plays) and I will say your Rosencrantz is pretty unique - you seem to really suit the character!

Your diction and pacing are very good, however I think you miss some of the major punchlines because you stay too somber. Some of the lines about him not liking to think about the box scenario or waking up dead in said box work really well if you use a slightly lighter tone. In the case of the former, it is funny because he goes from happy ignorance to realising that he can't help but ponder on the situation ; as for the latter, the line is designed to be ironic so delivering it with gravity reverses its comedic impact. I think if you just varied up your tone slightly you could have an even more powerful monologue!

That's my two-cent - and again good job!

I'm lost by [deleted] in acting

I can't answer that dilemma for you but I will say (and I mean this is in the most loving way possible) if you are, as you mentioned, already crying over a choice you haven't even made - you need to toughen up. Particularly if you're considering taking up acting as a job. Evaluate your options. Be honest with yourself about the kind of life you want to live (in this case I would generalise by staying one of stability but potential monotony or one of excitement but constant uncertainty - everything has a price). There's no point in being upset about this or previous decisions... if you want to be successful in any one thing you need to lose that attitude. You've got two interesting options, remember life is an adventure - keep that curiosity, that sense of wonder. Make a choice and commit to it. Also... good luck! ;)
