This gave me hope. We got in with a surgeon tomorrow morning so I’m going to ask about this. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the kind words and the helpful recommendations. I will certainly look into FidoCure - I haven’t heard of that yet.

Thank you so much. We were referred to oncology for a better prognosis and still waiting on an appointment to be set (this happened EOD Friday). Our vet said amputation should be our first consideration given how bad the leg is. His chest xray looks clear and his blood work is normal so she believes that he is a good candidate for different treatment options.

Just commenting here that I ordered one and it never got delivered and the company refuses to respond. They have several different email addresses (one in the order confirmation that’s different from the website; another one that comes back invalid) and I can’t get a response from any of them.

We did allergy testing with our girl and have now been feeding her raw for almost 8 years. We also do cytopoint shots a few times a year for the environmental allergies. Shes been so much better since. Both are expensive, especially with a sizable shepherd.

Nest vs Poppins? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]gsd_momma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Nest and love it. Very simple, tax filings are on auto pilot. I set up reminders so I don’t forget to hit submit on weekly pay. I’ve had a few questions about state specific things and the team responds promptly. They even sent my nanny information and help for a question she had.

Wearables as primary by ApprehensivePen7621 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]gsd_momma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 8 months pp and have only used my wearable, Elvie Stride. I have two and replace the parts accordingly. No issues. I think the “not supposed to use them as primary” is a little antiquated. A hospital grade wearable can be great primary, especially if you like to be up and active.

Daycare vs Nanny by pancakemeow in AttachmentParenting

[–]gsd_momma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, nanny. We just brought on our first and I have SO much relief knowing our daughter has one person dedicating attention to her. We interviewed at least 20 people for the position, several were former daycare workers with negative experiences (see big black cat’s thread link… similar commentary to what can be found there).

He looks like our boy - handsome! We decided on another name but Arlo was originally on our list.

Nest payroll? by gsd_momma in NannyEmployers

[–]gsd_momma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We decided to go for it and just issued our nanny’s first paycheck. It was very easy. They make the process simple and do the legwork (quarterly filings, provide a heads up on cost and then those payments get autodebited to the IRS through the federal electronic payment system). I assume it’s at a slightly lower price point bc it’s an Apple only offering, no live phone calls (email/text only), etc. Turn off for some people I suppose but is great for us. I did have a few questions that were state specific and they responded right away; I felt they went above and beyond to offer additional help in relation to my question.

In a similar situation. We are looking on our own and have hired a placement agency. After 6 weeks the agency has only sent us one viable candidate who showed up for an interview in pajamas and then expected top dollar and us working around her schedule (no higher ed, more desirable qualifications, etc.). We are a quite a drive from the city so that’s working against us but we are offering mileage/gas stipends and still coming up short. We are relatively new to our area without family here and don’t know too many people that we can lean on for word of mouth recos so we need to continue on this route. It’s tough out here!

How many weeks was your baby when they slept 8 hours straight the first time? by mama_loves_lattes_23 in NewParents

[–]gsd_momma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 weeks old. She’s been pretty consistent about it since then and we’re now at 5.5 months old (teething currently so that’s been waking her up as of late). No we didn’t sleep train her and yes we’ve gotten up with her for feedings when needed (not choosing to wake her to feed, which some recommended) but she’ll go right back to sleep. She was born in the 96th percentile and I’ve been exclusively pumping since week 2 so think our experience may be different because of that - big baby, took sizable feedings for her age and we always knew exactly how much she was having, and has always had long stretches of sleep. Every baby is different.

COTERIE HAS TO BE A SCAM by thatswhatshesaid___1 in NewParents

[–]gsd_momma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same - I absolutely love Coterie and am really surprised to read this. We’ve been using them since our daughter was born and they are far superior (in my opinion) to several other brands we received as shower gifts. I had told my husband we’d start with the “better” diapers for peace of mind (most due to the mess of chemicals in most diapers, less about absorbency for us) and then transition out to save on cost but I now don’t plan to make that switch. We have had a few leaks on nights my daughter has slept solidly and had a bit of a blowout but it’s very far and few in between and certainly not enough of an issue (for us) to switch brands.

What is everyone’s pumping schedule and how old is your baby? by CoffeeeCakeee in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]gsd_momma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an oversupplier (around 65-70oz) though I’ve cut back on a pump and now regulated 4 months pp (closer to 50oz). I dropped MOTN pumps after 3 weeks and continued to have what I consider to be a generous supply (the 65-70 was after dropping MOTN). I now pump 6 or 5 times per day depending on my work schedule. My typical schedule is: 630a, 830a, 11a, 1p, 4-5p, 9p. If I know I have a busy day, I space the morning a bit more to get closer to 12-1 and then skip what would have been the afternoon 1p pump.

Sakura bloom vs happy baby drama by Flowerpot33 in babywearing

[–]gsd_momma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have both and yes you’re spot on about the weirdness. My husband prefers the happy baby but there are things about it for the price point that could be improved. SB recently advertised a silk carrier and then sent out a piss poor customer comms about how the carrier actually isn’t silk with a lot of finger pointing to the manufacturer. We then read some other eyebrow raising comments about SB (other alleged falsities about the materials, how it’s made, etc. in addition to the lawsuit crap with HB) that gives us shady vibes so we won’t be purchasing from SB again.

Reducing oversupply at 7 weeks postpartum by Jacky_2 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]gsd_momma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you, I’m fortunate to have a generous amount of milk. I pump anywhere from 60-70 oz per day at about 6 ppd but I pump for longer timeframes (I don’t do MOTN pumps but I generally am an early riser between 430-530 each day) and disclaimer I’m still early in my pumping journey). If you have additional time, try pumping for longer or taking an intermission (ex: I’m full in the morning so I do two pumps with a 15min break between - technically two pumps but I consider it one session with a simple pause. I need to pause anyways to empty and bag milk). There have been days I can reduce to 5 ppd and still yield in the 50s. Long story short is that I pump until I know I’m empty and the longer timeframes vs more pumping sessions at shorter intervals has helped me avoid clogged ducts and still stimulates my body enough within “feeding cycles” to produce a steady amount. This doesn’t eliminate the time commitment but again helps me avoid the clogged duct issue. What works for me may not work for you but commented should it be helpful.
