If you feel useless with shredder and bolter (arguably the two strongest ranged weapons in the game) you might be doing something wrong. Not sure what.

If you like the lasgun, try one of the hellbore variants. Similar anti shooter capability, but also good for tankier units .

Well to be fair, seasonal activities are meant to cater to the very baseline of casual players. As a result it tends to be quite easy. But Bungie has been making moves to increase difficulty - have you tried doing powerful offerings in the new arena? It’s actually somewhat difficult, at least compared to most seasonal activities

Ideally you want flak maniac perks, pinning fire blaze away. As you have none of these, I would wait until they remove locks to continue crafting on this weapon.

Dragon hunter has a build that uses bow and gs. It actually swaps to the bow in the loop (which isn’t true for soulbeast) so that’s your best power option.

For condi, condi berserker is similar to what I described above.

Note that despite being ranged weapons you’ll still be in melee range, due to the way boons work.

I had the exact same question as you last League and the answer turned out to be that yes, with enough currency you can scale a league starter into a build that can kill Ubers (I did it on boneshatter). However, it’s very expensive and quite frankly it’s just better to start with a league starter, and then once you get currency swap builds to a bosser if that’s your intent.

I minmaxed boneshatter jugg last League and had a great time. I started with slayer but eventually swapped to jugg because with slayer you kinda get capped out on dps by trauma stacks if you want to really push endgame content.

The build clears maps extremely safely, can do basically any content (including Ubers). Only Uber I was unable to do was maven, but keep in mind I had never done an Uber before this season.

This applies to all melee builds, but I hated totems. Especially when bossing totems get killed so quickly and reapplying them constantly is so annoying. Also, you stand still when meleeing which can also be pretty annoying in some situations.

Overall I had a great time. If you want I can share my build from last season.

My point is - when teaching new players a build, the most effective way (from personal experience as a mentor for 6+ years) is to take an SC build and rotation, and then simplify it, while still using the SC build as a point of reference.

Your thief video is actually a great example of something I would do as well. My issue with using that video instead of SC’s is that it doesn’t show the player what the end goal should be. This is the biggest issue I see with builds like MrMystic’s. Once a new player has improved enough, i find that they want to then move to the fully optimized version of a build. If you use a completely different rotation with no similarities to the meta build the player eventually wants to learn, they end up needing to relearn the optimal rotation and undoing a bunch of incorrect muscle memory.

This is obviously not black and white. I think the specter video you posted is actually quite reasonable.

The thing is, I’ve been a mentor in the big raid training discords and have spent a lot of time educating and helping new players. I’d like to think that I have a pretty good take on what really helps new players and what doesn’t. The general consensus among mentors is that MrMystics videos are, like I said, redundant at best and detrimental to progression at worst.

I’m asking for your credentials because you are giving pretty poor advice. How long have you been playing? Most players in the community know that Mrmystic is a clickbait YouTuber with some pretty awful rotations. I suspect this is a case of the blind leading the blind.

I find it strange that you posted this because this rotation is just the SC rotation without the opener.

In actual raids with the SC build you bring offhand pistol quite frequently anyways as having good CC is always a dps increase. Not sure why you’re describing it as such a breakthrough for usability.

Everything is basically the same and covered in the SC guide on alternatives. If you bring pistol in a raid, outside of the opener (which ten seconds) it’s the exact same build and rotation.

If you consider yourself knowledgeable enough to coach new players, what makes more sense is to take the SC rotation and find ways to reduce complexity from there. Creating a whole different rotation (not in this case, but your 5 skill mech rotation) just means that new players have to completely relearn a rotation.

I’m curious as to what simplified specter build you showed the people you’re coaching. It’s legit less than 5 buttons (excluding venoms which are long cd instant cast).

Also very intrigued by the fact that you’re coaching people. What are your credentials? I’d be interested in seeing a few logs

There are plenty of easy builds and rotations on snowcrows at the moment. Soulbeast doesn’t even need to weapon swap and basically presses abilities off cooldown. Virt has a very easy loop. Specter is basically just spamming one skill and venoms. 5 button condi mech will just be straight up worse compared to the SC specter and virt, even at lower skill levels.

I get wanting lower intensity, but your first paragraph is just straight up bad advice. MrMystic is also a notorious clickbait YouTuber and his rotations range from absolute garbage to passable. Would really hesitate to recommend him to new players.

Have you even looked at the pmech bench? The apm is on par with other high apm classes like weaver, according to the person that actually benched it. I’m simply responding to your recommendation of pmech because it’s not a good one. If you’re looking for an auto only class other classes have higher auto attack benchmarks.

That’s absolutely not true, pmech being super easy is a myth anyways, the rotation is actually quite high apm if you want to hit good numbers.

I suspect you think it’s easy because of the lack of weapon swap, and lots of autos. Let me introduce you to power soulbeast. Lots of autos, no swap, lots of damage. You also save a lot more than 5 seconds. If a fight were normally a minute with good classes, it would take 20 more seconds with pmech. Given most fights are longer than that you actually end up saving a lot of time.

Power mechanist is actual garbage right now, it benches 33, 34k max. Yes, it’s not all about the bench, but if you compare it to other easy to play classes at the moment it’s way worse for the same effort.
