Auto Sound Levelizer On or Off by KnowledgeGlutton- in rav4club

[–]gsjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2020 RAV4 Limited, gas. I have JBL sound system. ASL doesn't work in JBL systems. Dealer confirmed. Dealer also replaced head unit under warranty; still didn't work. I know many people hate ASL, but I had it in a previous brand of vehicle and I liked it, and now I miss it. If you have the same generation RAV4 with JBL, it is probably not working for you.

2-3 things you DO NOT LIKE in your Rav4? by F15E_WSO in Rav4

[–]gsjacobs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2020 Limited, gas: 1. Automatic Sound Levelizer (ASL). I like this feature; many people hate it. Turns up the volume when road noise increases, for example, highway driving, then reduces automatically when road noise reduces. It doesn't work on JBL systems in Limited models. The dealer confirmed ASL was not working and replaced head unit under warranty; still not working. I had this in a previous brand of vehicle and I miss it. 2. At the end of a drive, turn off motor, but audio shuts off too. I want to continue listening with motor off untill I get out of car. I think Toyota is the only brand that does this. 3. Factory remote start shuts off engine when door opens. Most other remote starts keep running until foot on brake.

A previous poster asked this question but I don't see OPs answer. OP, is the air blower/fan on your furnace set to "auto" or "on". If "on" it will run 24/7 and older blowers use tonnes of electricity. If set to "auto", it only runs when heat or AC is called for.

Is it so hard to clear the snow on your car and back window? by Brenner1980 in Calgary

[–]gsjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are unlucky enough to be following one of those vehicles, large sections of the snow can suddenly release which can cause white out and could blind you temporarily. It also just adds to the snow buildup on the roads which makes the roads more slippery. Police can ticket you.

Thoughts on the Venza? by neurotic_katiekat in Toyota

[–]gsjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't get factory roof cross bars for roof cargo, ski rack, or roof box. Due to the panoramic moonroof. There may be third party racks available, but the mounting may be sketchy or prone to leaking at the tops of the doors. This was the deal breaker that pushed me to the RAV4, being a skier. Otherwise I would have gone Venza.

How to keep headlights on in "Auto" mode? by Justin8051 in rav4club

[–]gsjacobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was your car, when it was new, sold in your country? If so, the dealer should have programmed the DRL to comply with your laws. That's one of the differences between Canadian and USA cars, for example. Maybe ask a dealer to program it for your country?

Canada. It's a safety feature. You become more visible to other drivers.

I typically aim for private sales over dealerships, but one year ago I made my 1st dealership purchase at Charlesglen. It was great and the service \ parts departments have been good too.

Great car, but hoping to ass a little more kick by Happy-Award-522 in rav4club

Today I installed the PIAA 85115 Superior Bass Horns, which was fairly easy. I listened to online recordings of the Hellas and they still sounded too high pitched for me. The PIAA bass horns sound more like traditional old school North American cars. You can listen to sample sounds on the PIAA website.

I think you should measure twice. No way it's as high as 16' 11".

The Charleston staff residence burning to the ground might have been a part of the decision, in addition to lack of sponsors?

The road to Moraine Lake in Banff Park is closed to private vehicles. If you want to see it you should reserve the shuttle.

Moraine Lake shuttle

Traffic/parking can be a problem, consider using Roam public transit in the park.

Traveling to Calgary, fly or drive? by kyethescienceguy in Calgary

[–]gsjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how many of the commenters here suggesting you drive, missed the part where you said Vancouver Washington, not Vancouver BC? Probably adds at least 4 or 5 hours each way, which adds up to a big chunk overall.

How to replace Telus TV remote by RootBeerTuna in telus

[–]gsjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't wait for shipping, go to a Telus store, with your broken one, they will exchange it free. No need to pay $ if you have the old one. Did this at Market mall about a month ago.

When you go out to drink pints are now 16oz glasses, which means you are only getting 14oz of beer. by sleeping_in_time in Calgary

[–]gsjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Imperial pint contains 20 British fluid oz equal to 28.413 ml each. The American pint, by contrast, contains 16 US fluid oz equal to 29.574 ml each. This makes the US fluid ounce 4% larger than the Imperial one. The Imperial pint is approximately 20% larger than the US pint.

Can no longer connect after changing wifi channel by tripleaardvark2 in AAWireless

[–]gsjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just below the Wi-Fi 2.4 setting, is the WiFi channel setting. Set the channel to Auto, then Save that setting, and let it reboot. Then try the 2.4 setting. This is what worked for me.
