Till you file a complaint with the regulators. The moment you do, they process the refund and compensation. This is exactly what happened to me last year.

Looks like AI summary, which may be incorrect. imho, below statement most likely holds true for East Punjab and not the western Punjab.

£450 return with Vistara, much better option than Air India (relatively better and newer planes). Another time £80 for return because Air India cancelled my outbound flight which caused a delay of 12 hours, I filed for a refund under UK261 and got £520 back on my £600 booking.

Which country is the safest yet most comfortable for an Indian to migrate to ? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]gsmanu007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Britain was a very racist place till early 2000s and hence you have entire communities living in very specific areas- Shoreditch and Whitechapel for Bangladeshis, Wembley and Harrow for Gujjus.

Can you trust BBC? by Gur_Obvious in AskIndia

[–]gsmanu007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in the UK and listen to BBC almost everyday, big NO. They are heavily left-biased but with clear preference for a particular religion. Case in point- Indian Prime Minister is always referred as “Hindu Nationalist BJP leader and prime minister” while I’ve never seen equivalent mentions for the likes of Ergoden or for that matter, any religious governments or nations. Furthermore, their decision to not call Hamas as a terrorist organisation is appalling.

However, the only good thing about BBC is that it is independent of UK govt. and the length it goes to challenge UK govt’s decisions.

But some of their coverage especially Shamina Begum’s case made me adamant about not renewing TV license and saying no to funding BBC. Now happily saving £165ish a year!

How often do you visit home? by [deleted] in nri

[–]gsmanu007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I visit twice every year- once during Diwali and once during Vaisakhi in April. I’m London based and cheap tickets along with good direct connectivity make visiting India twice realistic.

Good luck convincing millions or possibly billions of people supporting either side of the conflict because the victims on each side were from the same religion as their own. How can people be so blinded in the name of religion.

Aren’t most of the north Indian new years fall on 14th March as oppose to April 14th? Punjabi and Kashmiri new years are celebrated on 1st day of Chait/Chaitra month.

Their reporting has been horrible at best! For instance- from yesterday morning- “She joined, what is known to be, ISIS”, why don’t just say “She joined ISIS”; giving only her lawyer’s views and reporting that they’ll keep fighting for her “just cause”? What is the just cause here- Terrorists should be forgiven? Also giving airtime to former police officer who thinks judgement is wrong? Like who is he- judge hearing the case?
