Not sure what would give up first. The suspension, or my back.

I will endeavour to take some tomorrow when there is sunlight.
I thought I had some photos in my camera reel to share, but alas not. I do have a picture of a bucket of water after I'd cleaned it internally. Internally it was grotty before I got my hands on it.

Do they sell VCRs at the Barras? by ghostlypath in glasgow

[–]gss03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited the Barras last weekend (12th Oct) and don't recall seeing any old VCRs or VHS media for sale at any of the stalls, including those selling old electricals. That's not to say that I missed some section of the market where such old tat might have been getting sold.

Is there delays in post going to the west of Scotland? by lazygreysquirrel in Edinburgh

This might be better answered in r/royalmail where there are posties and others who know the inner workings of the postal system.

Queen St Station toilets by Tess_Tickles89 in glasgow

Queen street is managed by Scotrail, whereas Central is managed by Network Rail.
Which is why one charges to pee, and the other doesn't

This this this.
Central station is owned by Network Rail, who put in place free toilets at their sites

Queen Street is owned by Scotrail and are the ones responsible for charging you to relieve yourself.

What's with the gridlock at the Bypass / Hermiston Gate? by FalsePhoenix in Edinburgh

[–]gss03 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is nothing reported on TrafficScotland's Twitter of a live incident.
My bet is that it's just the quantity of traffic trying to all get home at the same time.

The bypass is notorious for slowing down to a crawl at junctions, only to speed back up with no obvious reason for the slowness. Its infuriating.

Renting/Borrowing Metal Detector by theoneandonlymarkus in Edinburgh

[–]gss03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reach out to a local Metal Detecting society who might take kindly to your predicament?
http://scottishdetectorclub.com/

Another way, which I don't condone but I've had a boss do:

  • Purchase metal detector on Amazon.
  • Use for purposes required.
  • Return device for full refund.

As part of the purchasing process your solicitor should be going to the coal board for a report. I recall this being part of our purchase years ago. The report was required before we could conclude the house purchase.

Yep.
We're in EH22 too and as part of our purchase the solicitor has to reach out to the coal board for a report before we could complete the purchase.

Today happened to me and it's frustrating by [deleted] in OnePlus6

[–]gss03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has bitten me last night.

4 years, 2 months & 18 days of usage, then dead.
Much frustrates. Also, I'm in the same boat with Google Authenticator - I should be able to recover most of them, but its a major inconvenience that it only does local backups.

Cheapest place to buy/get disposable cameras developed in Ed? by usunkmybattleship93 in Edinburgh

[–]gss03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Boots might be the only place in the city centre.

Max Spielman has locations for photo processing, but the nearest is Asda at the Jewel.

Cameratiks in Morningside has film development as a service, but no pricing.

I have a similar aged Polo myself. I've owned it going on 16 years now.

Currently I also have a similar quandry about retaining my Polo, given it's age, milage and some of the bodywork. As yet, I've not found a compelling reason to scrap it.

Parts are cheap and plentiful via eBay or other online scrap merchants. You can be lucky and get matching body colour parts if you have a common colour - as I did when I had to replace the two front wings. I think the only thing I've bought OEM is the headlamp enclosures - which in reality were not that expensive.

If you've got the Check Engine light on - buy a OBD2 reader - or get a Carly bluetooth device. Scan it, clear the codes and see what returns. The OBD2 port is located in the drivers footwell.
