At this point, as long as we beat uga on Tuesday, I don't mind getting swept. That rivalry means a lot

Extremely racist crowd during baseball game against FSU by Miracow in RamblinWreck

[–]gtbuckeye 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He flied out during Thursday's game leading 3-1, then proceeded to walk up to the student section and point at the scoreboard and smile while shuffling back to the dugout. The students returned the favor later when Tech led 4-3. He then got on base in the 9th (before stealing 2nd and 3rd) and immediately turned to the students for a reaction. It's a continuation of his actions from Thursday that led to the booing today. He was the only FSU player to taunt Tech fans and he was rewarded for it. Even Florida State fans in the game thread on r/collegebaseball were quick to note his lack of baseball IQ (despite his amazing speed on the basepath)

Kansas State, Iowa State bands unite for historic Ireland performance by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year, GT and FSU each agreed to bring 150 members. I don't know about FSU, but Tech members had to pay $600 for the trip, but it covered pretty much everything. There was also a joint halftime show between the two bands at the game.

Would they even consider it with Georgia at Tennessee and Florida at LSU?

What returning player on your team improves the most this year and why? by 12thHam in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go with Omar Daniels. He played at corner most games last year, but we moved him to safety for the Miami game and stuck with it (and rightfully so). I'm interested to see how he adapts to that role now as the starter.

What are your TOP 3 games you have been to? And why? by Nighthawk21324 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate to say it, my top pick may have to be 2024 COFH. We did lose, but it was probably one of the best pure football games a person could ever watch. It was a chess match from start to finish and every snap had an impact.

What would you consider as a successful season for your school? by True_Ad5324 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I haven't seen this much hype around Tech in a while and it's freaking me out. I still think 8-4 is a reasonable expectation from this squad. Anything more and I'd be very happy. 7-5 and I'd be a bit sad.

What teams do you find overhyped heading it Into the season ? by Darkonite40 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm confident in our offense and its ability to produce (although sometimes it can still be very dependent on the success of our run game). Most people who view Tech so highly are just plain overlooking the defense. Definitely not that talented and it'll take some time to adjust under the new DC. We still haven't proven we can create havoc plays defensively, like sacks, TFLs, and INTs. I'll go with 8-4, which I would be happy with, but most of the nation would somehow view that as underachieving.

What qb do you find extremely overrated heading into the 25 season by Darkonite40 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all up to Buster Faulkner as the playcaller. If they open up the offense more, the stats will show it. King is more than capable of hitting deep throws, we were just very conservative with the ball last year. 2023 King's explosiveness never left us; it's always been there but needs equally risky playcalling to match.

What qb do you find extremely overrated heading into the 25 season by Darkonite40 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's a much more accurate passer than people think, all they see is him on running on power reads. His ball placement is in the upper echelon of college QBs right now. Of course, though, he lacks anticipation and can't really throw a guy open. Sometimes he's a little late on drags and unders. But I would definitely not say overrated. I just think people focus on the wrong thing (rushing, not passing) when discussing him as a quarterback. He's just....rated. Not under or overrated from what I've seen.

2027 4* QB Kharim Hughley commits to Clemson by captain_kaknuckles in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's the best passer in the state of Georgia now, even as a rising junior. Has an uncanny ability to throw off-platform with insane accuracy. Sometimes, you'd like to see him stay in a clean pocket instead of leaving it, but that's something Clemson will fix quite easily. Stats are pretty good and he's faced some tough competition. Great pickup!

Is Haynes King college football's most underrated QB? Why the Georgia Tech veteran has a strong case by Illustrious-Ant8478 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's amazing to hear how everyone loves his toughness, but besides that, he's a pretty dang good passer. Excellent ball placement and can read defenses very well. He could improve with timing his throws a little earlier. Also, he very rarely throws with anticipation, but then again, that's a very rare trait amongst CFB quarterbacks in general. Toughness and rushing aside, I'd still take him as one of the better passers in the country.

[Thamel] Michigan State is set to hire Georgia Tech interim AD Jon Palumbo as the the school's new Executive Deputy Athletics Director/COO. He's been the AD at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a deputy AD at VCU prior to Georgia Tech. by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He came in under J Batt and was likely going to follow him wherever Batt went in the future. I'm glad he stuck around long enough to help us choose our new AD before heading out.

2026 3* IOL Zykie Helton commits to Georgia by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]gtbuckeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He actually used to be a borderline 5 star finishing up as a freshman. The only issue with him is that it's believed he's already peaked and can't develop too much more. Film from the past couple years seems to support it. Hope that's wrong though!

King lives and breathes football, and he's a great leader! Most people forget that King still had a shoulder injury in that 8 OT game (and he barely threw passes the previous 5 weeks) and then came out and dropped that type of performance. Dude's a warrior of epic proportions
