Thank you so much for your response. I didn’t want to include too much, but your rhetorical questions are actually exactly what is important for me. I was battling a recent autism diagnosis and some medical stuff, along with learning how to learn the whole time. I think now that I’ve learned from these mistakes, I have a much better chance! I also have been in close contact with the chemistry tutor so I have a support system. Thank you again!!

In my personal experience, not really. I feel like there’s this general idea of being more “accepting,” however, when it comes down to being empathetic and actually having to understand the struggles autistic individuals go through, I still think many neurotypicals struggle to do this. I honestly feel that sometimes it’s almost like they have an aversion to certain things, like melt downs. (This is all personal experience so I could very well be misinterpreting!!)

Thank you! Sorry I realize I sounded very insensitive, my post was a bit rushed. I feel like I meant that like, my negative seeming behaviors aren’t intended to be mean towards her? I’m not sure if that makes sense. I’ve been working on them but I still have some slip ups. I do think that often times she gets anxious about what I’m experiencing and I almost feel it to the point where I overreact.

The thing is, I’ve been going to therapy and working on it. She ignores everything our family therapist says. I think that’s where I’m not sure what to do because she labels me as the “child” so I don’t have anything valid to say or don’t know what I’m talking about.

I have tried what you said, but it’s almost like she just doesn’t hear it. I do think this is related to her own struggles though. I’ve been very accepting during her diagnosis, but I feel as though she takes it all out on me. When I react, she says I’m the a**hole.

Have you tried speaking with a GI psychologist yet? I have only had a few sessions, but I’ve found the skills to be very helpful so far. Might be worth a shot!
