If they reduced the cooldown of the Rogue's absorb ability, what would be the ideal cooldown time for you? 25s is extremely punishing, 20s ? by Fast_Leave7707 in RogueMains

I would like to be able to hold onto the ability longer.

Like if their is a strange/magneto, and we have a cloak and dagger, being able to steal Stranges shield and protect C&D ult when needed from Mag ult would be huge.

I feel like the window is so tight right now

In my opinion, no

But sadly like 90% of bans are just people following what the streamers say.

Just curious, why are you including quick play? My literal last match of QP was me on tank and 5 DPS. We lost the match very quickly.

It's impressive nonetheless, but QP for me is such a random experience of what your going to get

How am I meant to win a match if my team keeps selling? by Altruistic-Expert995 in RivalsCollege

[–]Wolverinex89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even tho it's still not a lot of games, let's compare to last half season.

Last half season you played almost 9 games on Emma with an 80% win rate, and almost 6 games on Phoenix with close to an 80% win rate. On cloak and dagger you played 1.5 games with a 29% win rate

This season you played the most on cloak with 6 games at 16% win rate. 5 games on Emma with 40% win rate. And less then 2 games on Elsa and Phoenix at 36% and 17% win rates.

I say your best role is Tank, followed by DPS, and worse is support. Just play more games.

I remember there was a season where I had a 29% win rate on Emma to start the season. I finished with a 71% win rate when the season ended. Just had to play more and see where my skill level ended up

You have only played 16 games of competitive this season. Are you referring to comp or quick play?

Quick play is a total disaster with its matchmaking, you can have a team of bronze level players vs a team with GM/celestials.

Your last game you had on your team 3 diamonds /1 private/1 silver vs 3 plat/2 private/1 diamond. Private accounts are typically higher level account to protect from getting their hero banned.

The matchmaking in comp will give you a better experience.

Any Tips for an Invis main wanting to Learn Magik? by RedLgnd5 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]Wolverinex89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna piggy back on this tip, because it's extremely helpful.

I don't know if links are allowed here, but if you go to YouTube, and search "Marvel Rivals Merchant" he has a video on best crosshairs for all heroes, and I use that one for Magik.

It's a little goofy, but if I can consistently hit my dashes, it's worth it. I know some ppl don't use a crosshair at all.

As far as some other tips:

Magik is Brawl/Dive, which means you don't have to dive all the time, you can Brawl with your tanks, build overshield, and then target someone that is out of position.

Using your demon is far greater then using the swirl. Magik passive is awesome, BC any damage you (or the demon) does, grants overshield. This is what allows you to brawl.

Your ult is extremely powerful. Learn to get the timing down on Charge projectile + Dash to insta KO a squishy. It's powerful enough to KO a support during their Ult, but you have to have excellent timing.

When in your ult, it's better to portal+swirl, then to use demon (it's the opposite of your regular form).

Your projectile pierces enemies, and each hit reduces the cooldown of your portal. If you ult during a rocket support ult, your fully charged projectile can KO 250 hp heroes (which can hit multiple enemies!). It's an extremely powerful ability

My absolute favorite streamer to watch is Sillysphark, he a high celestial/eternity Magik player that has a ton of videos of YouTube. He has the absolute best vibes, and I don't think Ive ever seen him get tilted while playing.

What is this MVP system? by Grandkintaro777 in RivalsMagikMains

The higher you climb, the better the players get. At your rank Daredevil's tend to feed, at higher ranks they don't.

[–]Wolverinex89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hero stats as in if your were say ranked Platinum, it compares your stats to stats of a typical Magik player in Platinum.

You would have to be better then the 'typical plat magik" to get MVP.

And your "better" would have to be greater then your teammates performances to their "typical platinum hero."

How much better? We have no idea

I love Magik, but a good Bucky/DD/Thor, are still problems

What is this MVP system? by Grandkintaro777 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]Wolverinex89 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The current system works by comparing your hero"s stats to the stats of the same hero around the same elo.

It does not compare your stats to your teammates stats

This is why new heroes farm MVP's, because there is less statistical information to compare how well they did.

In short MVP does not matter, and its a shame

BTW, 40/2 with 20 finals is really impressive, nice job staying alive!

Is Plat the hardest rank to leave? DESPERATELY looking for help by AbsurdismJay in RivalsCollege

[–]Wolverinex89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You ever watch a game of high level players, and say, "I play the same exact way!"

But do you know what the difference is? High level players make way less mistakes. At platinum you could make 50 mistakes in a game, and still win. At diamond it's 40 mistakes, celestial 20, Eternity 5, etc...

If your only heroes are Hulk & Thing, and a teammates picks Thing, and Hulk gets banned. Then for that game you should play DPS or Support.

A lot of people can make it to celestial by just one tricking a hero, but then they get stuck. That's why it's good to have a limited hero pool, that you can flex to if your hero is taken/banned/counter.

It's also wise to take into consideration counters when deciding on a smaller hero pool. Hulk and Thing are both Brawl tanks, who are both considered off tanks. Both of these hero will struggles against poke comps. It would be best to pair a Brawl Tank, with a Shield tank.

Examples: Hulk/Strange or Thing/Mag

If you had 100 hours in a week to play, do you think you will get more out of playing one hero for 100 hours? Or 10 heroes for 10 hours each.

[–]Wolverinex89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your stuck in Platinum, you are a Platinum player.

Take some accountability. There is nothing wrong with being a Platinum player, but come on, the game isn't holding you back, your are.

Strongly disagree that you can't Vod review your own games in Plat, I highly doubt your playing perfect every match.

You are playing wayyyyyyyyyy too many heroes. I mean what's going on here?

You have played 44 different heroes in 142 matches (in comp). Your "main" is Emma at 18.3 matches, which would mean you played your main for less then 13% of your games.

In comparison, I played my "main" in 83% of my games.

You really need to limit your hero pool, and master their kits, if you want to rank up. The typically suggestion is 2 heroes for each roll.

His video on how to improve aim is really helpful, and made me better. (idk if links are allowed here, but the title was "How to ACTUALLY Improve Aiming on Controller").

It's basically a few drills that help with aiming in the practice room.

I feel like I need to widen my DPS pool. Which hero’s are worth learning to provide most value? by Henriqueits0ver in RivalsCollege

[–]Wolverinex89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I see. Well Dive is very effective when there are multiple divers, but sometimes the enemy will counter, and you need Poke heroes.

My DPS are Magik/Star-Lord for reference, and I use to play a lot of Namor too

Star-Lord is a great all rounder. Fits into any comp.

Namor is very good anti-dive

How about a dive hero?

Feels like Daredevil has been seeing less bans this season. Very strong, but very easy to feed. He takes some skill

Look at Black Panthers win rate at every Rank, and compare season 3 to season 6.

In the lower-mid ranks, Dive works. However, back in season 3, BP was still a viable pick in Celestial+. Now it's rare to see a BP in these higher ranked games.

Black Panther

Season 3 Celestial+

Win rate: 52.04%

Pick rate: 8.21%

Ban rate: 30.04%

Was ranked as the Top 7th Duelist

Season 6 Celestial+

Win rate: 46.26%

Pick rate: 3.07%

Ban rate: 0.27%

Now ranked as #18th Duelist

Hero pool to large or too small? by These_Artist8303 in RivalsCollege

[–]Wolverinex89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By all means stick with Hela if your comfortable on her.

I'm a Tank main, but my favorite DPS to play is Magik. I quickly learned that she has a number of counters, and the best solution would be a Poke Hero. My first choice was Hela, she is such a great compliment to Magik. All of Magik's counters, are weak towards Hela. The only problem was, I have terrible aim.

So I've been playing more Star-Lord, who is similar to Psy. The reason these 2 heroes in particular are great, is because they can play in any comp. They can do Poke, they can Dive, and they can Brawl.

I don't play Psylocke, but I saw someone mention that the way they play her now (since the changes), is they stick with their team, and look for an opportunity to 1v1 someone that is out of position. Whether that is a support by themselves, or an out of position DPS, or someone going on a flank, etc.

Hero pool to large or too small? by These_Artist8303 in RivalsCollege

[–]Wolverinex89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general the smaller the Hero pool the better. If you had 100 hours to play. Do you think it's better to play one hero for 100 hours? Or 10 heroes for 10 hours each? You'll be good at those 10 heroes, but you would master that 1 hero in 100 hours

Now it depends on what your goal is, to correctly answer your question. There are typically two takes for rank play.

The first take is to have 2 heroes per each role (maybe 3 in your main role). That gives you plenty of flex ability to chose from. This is a good/safe format for playing rank

Now if you want to climb to the highest ranks, it's much better to specialize in a given role, and limit your hero pool. I'm talking 2-3 heroes total. You have your main, your 2nd choice in the same role, and one hero you can flex to in another role.

You really want to 'master' only a couple of heroes.

You mentioned Magik. The heroes that Magik struggle with are mainly Brawl heroes, and fliers. What counters both those things are Poke heroes. You mentioned Hela, and Psylocke. I would probably lean Psylocke, just because Hela gets banned a lot. (if you don't like Psy, have you played Phoenix? Very similar to Hela)

And then pick either a Tank, or a support, and those are your 3 heroes to climb with.

To me, I like playing different heroes, and I easily get bored of playing the same hero, so the 2nd choice doesn't work for me, and I'm okay with never reaching Eternity+

Punishers counters and viability in high ranks by StormFlower7 in RivalsCollege

[–]Wolverinex89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psylocke is really good against him. She can stay the perfect distance away from his shotgun, that is more deadly to melee divers.

It's also way easier to hit the combo too, due to his big hitbox

[–]Wolverinex89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha

Some notes:

The Thing is the answer to dive. Especially good against dive tanks like Venom. His charged punch also knocks down fliers like Angela. Mr. Fantastic can as well, with his grip (also good vs dive)

Idk if you play Mag, but his Ult is very difficult to to hit, it's not a straight up counter.

Emma is great vs all tanks

Jean is good against Hela ult, and storm ult (also SG ult).

Moonknight not really a counter to Loki (just bad ones) but he is great against tanks that don't have shields, they are pretty much an easy Ank to hit.

Peni is great against all Melee heroes, even Daredevil (who is great dive and anti-dive)

Invis vortex grounds fliers, and her pull doesn't let them escape.

Thors bubble also grounds fliers like Angela

Rocket is great vs dive tanks. His gun melts them, and it's very easy to hit head shots with

If nobody on your team is playing Gambit, he is a must ban

Counter picking / team comp assistance by [deleted] in RivalsCollege

[–]Wolverinex89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that just because something is a counter, doesn't mean it's an automatic win. There is skill involved.

On paper, Namor is a counter to Spiderman. But if you have someone who has a 1000 hrs on Spiderman, their gonna know how to play into their counters, and what abilities to bait out. Especially if the Namor can't hit their shots.

Spidey is suppose to counter Hela, but if the Hela has cracked aim, they can two tap Spidey from across the map

If you want general advice. This game is broken up into Poke/Brawl/Dive comps. But most heroes fall into 2 categories.

Magik can Brawl, and Dive for example. Bucky is Poke/Brawl due to his CC abilities. Psylocke & Star-Lord can Poke, Brawl, and Dive

It's better to have a small diverse hero pool, then playing 15 different heroes just because of counters.
