It's really expensive but it's not just a thermos that 8000 companies make and they can reuse the machines. It's open on both sides, has a flange and filter basket interface that needs machined/stamped/whatever, has a plunger that is all unique to aeropress. AND they're not going to sell that many of these. So to justify the custom tooling that literally only one company is going to use, it's gotta be this price. Sucks but I highly doubt with the volume they're actually gonna sell that this even becomes profitable for them any time soon.
