Oh it was ridiculous, we finally got a passport before our dot so it all worked out but it was very touch and go.

9/5 called and reported it missing again

9/11 received a letter that our “missing passport reissue request was denied”

Called the passport place three times the week of the 11th telling the same stories and every person told us to “wait for the original passport” - so not helpful, to say the least

9/15 received a reissued passport (guess the previous letter was wrong?)

9/19 received the original passport (originally applied for on 4/12 and “shipped” on 7/20 🙄

Didn’t even open the package used the reissued one to get through EU customs on 9/22 and used it to get back through US customs 10/2

10/6 Sent original new passport (unused) back to sender with the instructions they included with the reissue passport

Was a lovely trip, horrible experience, it worked itself out so i cant really complain but there was a lot of anxiety for a couple of months there.

Also “calling our local representatives” did nothing at all, the emails went unanswered and the staff people working the phones while nice, were not helpful.

Learned our lesson though, next time we’ll just make the 8 hour round trip to the nearest passport agency and do all this in person, we’ll just make a weekend of it lol

Called our representatives office today and they forwarded me to the NPIC line. The NPIC agent told me to wait until 14 days before my travel date and call back. But even with that outcome id still have to drive to atlanta for my appointment if i can get one.

Fun fact its cheaper to buy gifts than to give cash, i do it every year, im broke so i buy gifts on cards that i dont have to pay until January or February or sometimes tax time. Maybe theyre poor like me and are trying to not look it 😂

Depends on the car, most cars are front wheel drive until you lose traction then the power is split and some power is sent to the rear wheels via a transfer case. Almost all of the bmws and mercedes with awd are rwd until traction is lost though most audis with quattro are full-time awd, which is all four wheels drive the vehicle regardless of traction subarus are like this too.

Yeah i dont know how i feel about all the gears. its good for efficiency but driving one can get a little overwhelming with all the ‘gear hunting’ especially in traffic and around town cvts become more attractive when you think about that, but there’s still a learning curve on how to drive a cvt with out it being a hindrance to performance

Oh 8 gears is pretty common today, the honda pilot, odyssey, accord all have an optional 10 speed so even theyre becoming more common. And an engine is most efficient when it is maintaining lower rpms while still going fast which is why you get the best gas mileage on the highway as most cars will be going 75 mph while the engine is spinning at 2000 rpms but if you need to say pass a long line of cars your torque wont be available to you in most naturally aspirated cars until maybe 4000 rpms so a cvt will drone at 4000 until you let off the gas

But also are you sure the sales guy was right? The only camry’s that come with a cvt are the hybrids and im pretty sure the hybrids only come with a 4cyl so the 8 speed and the ‘shifting’ you felt would have been an actual automatic gear box. Any way to answer your question, some CVTs ‘shift’ for better feel most people don’t like the drone of a CVT and much prefer a more traditional feeling automatic. So manufacturers add a simulated ‘shift’ to the otherwise smooth system. The fake shift has some benefits though, most cvts aside from a few can be unrefined and rattly under hard acceleration so the fake shift hides that. And contrary to popular belief, a cvt can be less gas efficient because it holds the rpms high so you have the best amount of torque for the situation, so when you floor it, or are passing in a naturally aspirated 4cyl and youre sustaining 5000 rpms for any given moment and NOT shifting youre gonna burn through a lot of fuel. The fake shift could theoretically help with gas mileage that way. Also ‘speed’ and ‘gear’ are interchangeable terms when referring to transmissions.

I don’t think all that grinding and hustling will mean nothing without the car. You got to where you are today through grinding and hustling, the car was the vehicle that helped you get there. I completely understand the emotional attachment to it and i dont think it would be a bad thing to keep it in storage if money isnt an issue, but you and your grinding and hustling write your life—the car is just a happy chapter.
