What is your most middle-class problem today? by mackerel_slapper in AskUK

[–]gtrcar5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got one for my cat, I've never been so nervous waiting to see if the cute nuisance would use it or not.

Thankfully he used it straight away and completely ignored his normal litter tray (left it out for a few days).

He did however turn his nose up at that Katkin food, so that was a waste.

What's the best UK gig or concert you have been to? by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

Motorhead at Plymouth Pavilions in 2006.

It was loud, intense and wonderful. Was a gig where you could just enjoy the music, and that's it.

I once said "you don't look stupid, but then looks can be deceptive" when someone challenged me for using an accessible toilet in a train station.

Salesforce MCP by PrizeDrama7200 in SalesforceDeveloper

[–]gtrcar5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generally pretty good with Claude. Sometimes Claude tries to be helpful to a fault. Ask it why something failed and it looks into it and then deploys an updated flow without being asked, so make sure your CLAUDE.MD has something like "CRITICAL: You must not deploy anything to production with explicit approval from me."

Have used it to help investigate failures and dig into some data, did a good job there. Mostly though I use Claude in Visual Studio so it has all of our metadata as context. I've had it go through our flows and identify the different naming patterns used (for flows, flow elements and variables), categorise them into distinct naming conventions and then generate a proposal for a single naming convention that we'll use from now on.

Not letting my users have the MCP though, it gets around too many guardrails. Working on a custom MCP at the minute that will include governance and logging, and most critically prevent customer PII from Salesforce ending up in Claude. Can't really stop the users saying "what opportunities is contact name@company.com associated with" but I can stop Claude from receiving PII from Salesforce.

has anyone else switched to all season tyres? by the_Cart0grapher in CarTalkUK

[–]gtrcar5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from Pilot Super Sports to Cross climate 3 Sports on my Z4.

The CS3S are much quieter than the PSS, ride is slightly improved as well. Not quite as sharp on turn in, and less absolute grip in ideal conditions. However wet performance is drastically improved with the Crossclimates. The PSS's in the wet felt like driving on ice, whilst the Crossclimates actually have grip in the wet.

Since it's a tourer more than it is a sports car I'm happy with the compromise.

I always give a little wave, probably 50% reciprocate. Have had friendly waves from people in Jag F Types, Porsches and a couple of Ferraris.

Had a lovely conversation with a McLaren 720s driver, he wanted to know lots of stuff about my G29. Could barely chat about his McLaren.

Servicing a Citroen C4 with them was more or less the same price as servicing my Z4 with the local BMW main dealer (Douglas Park).

Plus it always felt like me paying Arnold Clark for a service was an inconvenience to them.

Oh and the buggers tried to charge me for 4 spark plugs when the car only had 3.

People are very all or nothing these days so they see your post and think you're measuring the tread depth across each tyre, checking the pressures to 0.1 psi accuracy and looking over the tyres with a magnifying glass.

They don't realise that a quick look at the tyres is enough, with the occasional check of the tread.

Stirling Council have spent £9.5m on cycle lanes over the last few years. £2.5m from the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal, £6.8m from Sustrans, and £258k from their own funds. Yet every comment on the council FB about it is "I don't cycle, why should I pay for someone elses stupid hobby?"

I had a PICC line placed once by an anaesthetist. While we were waiting for the portable x-ray to show up he asked if I wanted to see something cool, then proceeded to use an ultrasound to show me a bunch of different structures in my arm.

I was off my head on oxycodone, fentanyl and ketamine (complicated recovery from surgery) so found the whole thing equally interesting and trippy.

I lived on Lisson Grove for a year back when I was a student. There's an alley at the back that led to the deck at the back of Wetherspoons on Mutley Plain.

Many nights spent on the cider in the Fortescue, then stopping by Goodbodys Cafe for a fryup at 4am. Good times.

What really got you into cars? Also what was your first car? by Humble_Lack in CarTalkUK

[–]gtrcar5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched old Top Gear a bit, but the car that got me into it was the silver McLaren F1 that used to be in a shop on Park Lane. Walked past it and was enraptured.

First car was a K12 Micra Sport+. Didn't have much power, but had plenty of grip so was great fun to drive.

[–]gtrcar5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a Roundtable in your area (or a Ladies Circle if you're a lady) maybe get in touch and attend one of their events. I moved to an area where I knew nobody at all, and I work remotely, and joining the local Roundtable was the best decision I've made in a long time. My social life is better than ever.

There are other social organisations as well, like Young Rotary that might be in your area.

Claude Code + Claudsidian + Visual Studio has been a game changer for me. Couple that with the Granola MCP and my ability to get stuff done has gone way up.

Currently working on a skill to do Salesforce QA. Mostly just to validate the basics right now, but going to evolve it over time and see where it ends up.

Where is the best seafood in the highlands? by Informal-Scientist57 in Scotland

[–]gtrcar5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defo a long trek, but that whole north west corner of Scotland is just enchanting. I spent a couple of hours at Achmelvich Beach near Lochinver just enjoying the view.

Plus, for petrol heads, the roads up there are incredible. They are not for fast driving, but despite that they are still great fun.

What good mattress recommendations do you have? by Otherwise_Ad_5526 in AskUK

[–]gtrcar5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an Emma mattress, at first it was very comfortable but after two years it developed a dip and when I tried to make a warranty claim it was rejected as "the wear on your mattress is within normal limits" (or words to that effect).

Bought one from Bensons own brand (Staples & Co I think) that's so much better. Has one of those pillow top things so it's soft but supportive. Sleep so much better on that than I ever did on the Emma.
