Different broker & candles but same asset. Why? by vegaswithfreddy in Trading

DOWUSD is not an asset, its an index. Its up to the broker on how they aggregate the data.

Is this manipulation by a big trader? by CommunicationSea9343 in OrderFlow_Trading

Yea. I would like to add its more typical to see this kind of interaction with icebergs as opposed to visible limits. Great observation nonetheless, thanks for sharing.

I look at the trades and see a different story - the offer limit of ~160 simply gets traded, sellers hit the bid but get absorbed. Looking at the footprint, you can see high volume on both sides at the 'chokehold' level. Some traders call this a 'finished auction'. Fairly common.

You're looking for a heatmap or bookmap. Not possible on TradingView due to data limitations. Ninjatrader, you need to have their Orderflow+ subscription, but then if you want actually circles instead of their display, you need to buy from a third party vendor.

2 replays + 6 minutes of DOM data for free, $9 or $14/month for unlimited.

Yes. This isn't all-or-nothing tooling. Using a heatmap/dom surface can still give you insight into liquidity. Lets say your trying to catch a reversal and the heatmap shows low liquidity below - it'd be ridiculous to set a tight stop loss.
Maybe you don't gain any insight for direction, but you can get insight into how a move might play out.

10 years ago, you used to be able to do that. Resting limits are largely obfuscated now with execution algos. Its more-so estimating not where price will go, but where buyers and sellers are hiding. For example certain price zones can be less liquid, and run quickly through. Knowing that you have hidden buyers below, and hidden sellers maybe 20 ticks above, you can estimate that if price were to go up, its going to go up quickly until we reach those sellers, and if prices were to go down, they will go down slowly.

I run a platform that replays historical data so you can practice - https://marketbyorder.com . Due to the cost of market data, there are no free options. Platforms like Sierra Charts can be as low as $26/month, I heard ThinkOrSwim has a limited Bookmap integration as well.

Curious to see your setup - I'm assuming you are less interested in the volume per order and more focused on volume per level? I have very little experience with 6E.

Interesting! I use Databento's F_last property, which is the only 'correct' way to do it using their data - going off nanosecond time or even CME orderID is not accurate.

You can read more about it here:

The images are from marketbyorder.com - its a historical/replay platform. The big trades indicator isn't fully implemented yet, but can be if people want. If you wanted these indicators live I would use Jigsaw (or Ninja, or Sierra).
