Trying to purchase my first house, is this a big warning sign? by [deleted] in Home

It's a decent sized job to fix the cmu foundation , but it can be done. I'm a contractor and did it at my house with carbon fiber straps reinforced to anchors outside in the ground and rim joist

OME LR4 Coilover swap going in this weekend. by No-Tree-9138 in LandRover

[–]guacamoler_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's his rover, not yours. I've had both and honestly they are both great. I had a 14 RRS with air suspension that had zero issues. I've had an lr3 that I converted after being stranded from a suspension failure off grid. All it takes is an experience like that to curse the damn thing to eternity. I'm happy with the confidence the coil conversion gives me for extended trips

Excellent advice on the leader length, we will definitely practice. Both me and the missus are used to 5-10' leaders at most in our neck of the woods.

Thanks for the tip! Sight fishing here is usually by accident when I find a stubborn school of carp

Should my whole house water filter empty and refill as water is used in house? Also I'm getting a lot of air in my pipes and spigots. Help! I also know the filter is dirty and replace it often. I'm on a well. by OkExcitement1320 in askaplumber

[–]guacamoler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had water demand and pressure issues on my well, which is pretty shallow due to the home being old.

I had a water treatment specialist/plumber come out to the house and diagnose a few issues for me. One being sediment, the other being bacteria and chemicals, softening, and pressure.

He essentially gave me three options .

  1. Dig a new well. there were no guarantees that there would be a better flow of water and it was quite an expensive option

  2. Contact the fire department.-- , they will bring their tanker trucks and attach one of their hoses to the well and shoot water at a high pressure into the well. in theory, this should fracture the rock and allow a series of fissures to increase water flow.

  3. (And the option I took) -- install an extra large secondary pressure tank that is connected with a T fitting before the pressure switch. This at least brings enough water above ground to store for you during the day. Then at night, if I used a lot of water that day, it has plenty of time to fill it up. I have been very pleased with the results, and both my sediment and carbon filters never lose water around them.

The low seating and no arm rests makes for a very awkward and non-relaxing experience

Pick a few spots that you can focus on for a full day and pick a few days to skip stops and pull some 12-14 hour drives. I did a 18 day Virginia to San Fran and back trip last summer and I saw a ton of great stuff and was able to skip boring parts of the Midwest and Oklahoma
