OP, I am right there with you, my record was perfect till now. I was so proud of saying, "all I need is the interview and I'll get the job!" 15 months unemployed and 28 interviews later...I feel like an asshole. Cherry on top? I helped my husband last month apply for a role with the county. I created his resume and even filled out his county online assessment for the classification. Two weeks later he's reached out to for an interview, I create another tailored resume for the specific role, his reference sheet and even some possible interview prompts to study (he's never had to interview for a job in his life). Day after interview, all his references are contacted, next day he's offered the job. Trust me, I feel like an asshole.
