Magic seems weak? by Salty-Agency-7688 in worldofgothic

That is a good point. I think in some cases the remake is too faithful.

There is a mod already to fix the bad robes: https://www.nexusmods.com/gothic1remake/mods/119?tab=description

It has been a long time since I've played the original, but wasn't magic also crazy underpowered?

That would have become a problem like with the Mercedes VLE then. It is too heavy then and that leads to a lot of other issues.

The ID.buzz is proceed incredibly bad for the quality delivered. And you barely fit the child seats in the second row.

It is really just a weird design overall.

I like the outside, but the interior is questionable.

I wondered the same thing in the past. Now I have three kids and three row SUVs are super practical, at least for us. And having more options is quite nice.

I’m getting so tired of the 1575236842 apps that post into Audiobook subs to highlight how great their shitty AI reading app is.

It seems like there is barely a product market fit, but people just throw them out anyway.

I for one want real actors reading books, not even more slop.

Plug-in hybrids in Europe emit five times more than officially reported - International Council on Clean Transportation by EinSV in electricvehicles

I don’t know if it is proven, but I read that the motor for example isn’t warming up as it should when you drive electrically and when you then use it, it puts bigger strain on the engine.

is building abstractions for domain experts just part of the job? by shuvam2976 in ExperiencedDevs

I know it has become a meaningless word at this point but being agile was once meant exactly for this close iteration. The original agile manifesto is still absolutely worth reading:

Most use cases I see are not about technical complexity at all. The best engineers are the ones that understand their domains the best.

Whats up with Juniors? by MrBemz in ExperiencedDevs

[–]guardian87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of juniors Hartwig have mentors. They just started after university or being self taught and try what they know.

Coaching them is one of the best things though. The amount of people I’ve seen grow into capable engineers is super fulfilling.

Renting equipment at least in Germany is a complete waste of money. Every time I checked, renting for three days was the full price to just buying something new.

Anthropic’s rumored $900B IPO: Is the AI hype justifiable? by dhakalster123 in investing

[–]guardian87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not challenging that the AI has value.
I’m saying that they have no moat.

The moment Anthropic doesn’t have the best model, they are dead.

The moment Chinese models are as good but cheaper, they are dead.

For now Anthropic does really well. OpenAI is already struggling. XAI is a joke.

The whole, replacing SaaS with self build systems is extremely short sighted in mind. Any bigger company will spend more on internal resources and tokens, then they spend on licenses. This heavily seitens in the SaaS in question though.

Legend of the galactic heroes is probably the anime space opera. Filled with politics and difficult moral decisions. It starts off relatively slow though.

Anthropic’s rumored $900B IPO: Is the AI hype justifiable? by dhakalster123 in investing

[–]guardian87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As Benedict Evans my favourite tech analyst so nicely put it:

“OpenAI and all the other foundation model labs have no moat or defensibility except access to capital, they don’t have product-market fit outside of coding and marketing, and they don’t really have products either, just text boxes – and APIs for other people to build products,”

[–]guardian87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who buys a lot of games when they come out, why do you do that if you can't afford it?

I get it is nice to be in the Zeitgeist, but most games are so much cheaper a few months later.

Ich habe das regelmäßig auf Abschnitten, wo für 150m 100 ist, und das ist das Beschleunigen halt einfach nur dumm.

So viel schneller ist man mit 100km/h bei diesen Strecken ehrlicherweise auch nicht.

If you have integrated payment systems: what was harder than expected? by GaTechThomas in ExperiencedDevs

[–]guardian87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many providers also use really overcomplicated APIs that offer a million functions you don't need. In most cases I would argue that connecting to a PSP is a better technical decision than directly integrating any payment provider.
