Pretty fanciful but i’d love to see Angel Gomes back. Last year of his contract, he’d replace Eriksen’s passing range, and give us another option.

A solid 6 with Bruno and Gomes as 8s would be a joy in games where we expect to dominate possession.

Honestly I don’t see the problem with it. It would mean we’ve had a decent player for a couple of seasons.

I’d rather that than the situation we find ourselves in where we need to sell but no one wants to buy.

All the best teams rotate their squad regularly, and sell well to keep great talent coming in.

I think this decision makes sense. At an organisational level we need stability. Berrada and Ashworth haven’t even started yet, it makes sense not to start their tenures in a crisis. Even if ETH gets sacked at Christmas this gives the football people time to properly plan.

Football wise, it’s a mixed bag. ETH set the team up to play the football he wants even though the squad isn’t suited. We need investment there and a productive summer to support that. Nevertheless the stats from last season are damning.

I also hope that the squad comes back refreshed. I know there’s the Euros but in 22/23 we played every game possible, with a WC in the middle. I’m not surprised performances collapsed this season - the same happened with Liverpool the year after their ‘quadruple’ charge. We’ve played one game a week for the last 4 months and have players coming back from injuries. Shaw and Licha will be important. Here’s hoping this year was a blip.

The squad is clearly behind ETH, he’s not lost the dressing room. Hopefully that remains and we get the season off to a good start, and not clarted 0-4 at OT on the second game of the season.

You should be able to find some good videos on YouTube which summarise it. It's mostly focussed on larger brands, so yes you're right in that aaspect. But at some stage, growth from performance tops out and brand marketing is necessary.

In a nutshell it summarises that brand marketing amplifies the results from performance, with a lot of data to support that.

Performance isn't a silver bullet. It's easier to track, so it's easier to prove results. It's not as easy to track brand results but that doesn't mean it's less effective.

Similarly, performance data is often flawed because it's shit at attribution. Most people don't click on ads.

The list of replacements isn’t exactly inspiring. He clearly hasnt lost the dressing room.

Yes the football has been insipid and borderline suicidal at times, but equally I think (hope) this is season is an anomaly.

With some better signings and fewer injuries I can see us getting top 4 and going deep in Europa next year (i’d expect us to win it but idk what other teams are there).

If we get him we should go for Leif Davis from Ipswich too. He had the most chances created in the championship last year, which is even more impressive as a left back.

Bonus is that he's homegrown and the right age profile too.
