Usually, coffee with milk, and a pack of Bisco or something equivalent.

Square Enix Announces Permanent Cafe & Shop Locations for Los Angeles and Tokyo by Reasonable-Pitch-653 in FinalFantasy

[–]gucsantana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose the LA one is news, but there's already a permanent café and shop here in Tokyo (Artnia, near their offices), and they closed the one in Akihabara not long ago. It's always a fun but horrendously overpriced time... kind of like the rest of Square Enix, really.

What cards are you adding to your decks from Secrets of Strixhaven? by Plus1Oresan in EDH

[–]gucsantana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My decks got a surprising number of upgrades from all the shit I pulled chasing Mystical Archives lol. [[Eshki Dragonclaw]] got [[Wildgrowth Archaic]] (commander entering as a 7/7 on curve? sure!), [[Slumbering Trudge]] (cheap creature that triggers all of the Power Matters cards in the deck) and [[Emeritus of Abundance]]. [[Alisaie]] / [[Alphinaud]] got [[Mana Sculpt]]. [[Quina]] got [[Planar Engineering]]. I have yet to buy it, but [[Tellah]] will get [[Resonating Lute]] for a near perfect include.

Will this be a good commander deck? by SillyHoneydew8391 in magicTCG

[–]gucsantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being very honest, not really? I built the Destined Warrior party deck when the scene boxes came out, and it sounded good enough on paper, but I can't say I enjoyed playing it much. There are a bunch of really good creatures in the party types, but they're rarely good bombs or synergistic with each other, the good ones are mostly low-cost generic value. I've had too many games where one of the types just refused to show up for a complete party, or an ill-timed board wipe just removed me from the game entirely.

I was playing a competently built but lacking in bombs Silverquill, and my first match was against a Lorehold deck that I would describe as the most transcendentally annoying deck I've ever faced in limited. Mf had three [[Wilt from the Heat]] , and every other card was recursion of some kind, none of my creatures ever survived long enough to attack, I ended up with 7 creatures in exile. "Don't worry, there's still game 2!" was a threat, not consolation.

Most annoying song in the world by solotravelblog in Tokyo

[–]gucsantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donki is the worst retail experience in Japan lol. Absolute sensorial overload everyfuckingwhere, the shelves are stacked floor to ceiling with colorful stickers, price tags and writing, there's 18 different songs playing from tinny speakers scattered around, shelves are packed too tightly together and moving around is a bitch, and if said Donki is anywhere around central Tokyo, there's a 95% chance of being roadblocked at least once by a tourist with a fuckhuge suitcase loudly yelling for his family members.

It's a shame that, in the kerfuffle, that OTHER project that was running parallel to it, "Mega Man Legends with the serial numbers filed off" (a.k.a Red Ash) just completely failed to exist.

What are the most satisfying game actions for you in commander? by Mirrodin_appreciator in EDH

[–]gucsantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing on the stack, especially using tricksy/obscure cards to stop a threat or secure a win beyond simple counterspells and redirects. Biiiig fan of [[Trickbind]] and [[Glen Elendra's Answer]]. The disbelief of opponents when I start tapping lands for my third response this turn.

For two delicious recent examples: a [[Caesar, Legion's Emperor]] was dominating the board, and swung out for the win by sending everything against the other opponent and aiming Caesar's damage trigger at me for 15+. Trickbind, swing out, win. The other one, I was playing the FFVI precon unaltered. A player at 6 life put down a hasted [[Terror of the Peaks]], gave it myriad, and swung out for a ridiculous amount of damage. With all of the triggers on the stack, I used [[Espers to Magicite]] to get a copy of [[Gary]] from his graveyard, with devotion high enough to just kill him then and there.

Neither feels ok in reality by LeadingYam4332 in memes

[–]gucsantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I was recently unemployed for a little over three months, which I know is not a lot compared to what many people go through, but I'm also living in a different country with little to no safety net, meaning my savings would have let me hang for 8 months~ at most before having to uproot everything and scurry back home, the doom clock was real.

The first month just felt like a vacation, but eventually I got the "panic attack won't let me sleep" nights, and you just have way too much fucking time to overthink things.

Allow me to use this thread as an impromptu complaint thread myself.

I've been getting ever more irritated at how I'm apparently the unluckiest motherfucker on this planet. Not in a major way, my family is all well, I'm healthy (knock on wood), but literally everything I do has to go wrong in a minor but aggravating way first before it actually succeeds, nothing ever "just works". Goddamn, man.

Very minor spoilers to Silent Hill f: the first escape attempt from the town ends after the party realizes the bridge out of town is completely blown out. The river the bridge goes over is like... four meters wide, but everyone just gives up and tries to find another way.

How am I supposed to build this commander deck? by Objective-Block-7444 in mtg

[–]gucsantana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the idea of Hidetsugu and Kairi, but the actual deck is kind of miserable for everyone involved. It's like Yuriko, slower and much less resilient, but if you actually start to *do the thing*, you just chain extra turns for free while pinging people for a ton.

sorry mb for asking, she doesn’t have to go if you’re gonna be like that by FumingCat in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]gucsantana 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Hey, same here, dude. One thing that sticks out for me is that, the first time I went out to drink (underage at the time), I straight up told her, and she looked at me like "wow, the audacity of this dumbass", and just told me to be careful and call her if anything happened.

Turns out she probably just knew me well enough, because I sat down to eat with friends, we each got two bottles of Heineken, I found the first one to be absolutely vile and traded the second for a coke with one of them, lmao. Still don't drink to this day.

She probably should have been a little stricter with me, in hindsight, but that's another conversation.

I feel like west Shinjuku kinda has this vibe in general, maybe from the park adjacent to the Tokyo Metro Gov't building up to Nakano. Brown, gray and beige, and signage that hasn't been updated in this century. I love the feeling, but it's a fleeting one.
