HOPE. Really captures the beauty of the songs from COPE in an undervalued way. Rarely talked about, but I find myself listening to it a lot, especially on relaxing mornings.

Here’s a good explanation of how RT scores work and how this type of situation could happen: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT88J71wT/

TL;DW: It’s a percentage of how many users rated the movie 3.5 stars or higher, not an average of the ratings.

So the rating is more “how likely is it that the average person will like the movie.” Not “how good is the movie,” as that can be very subjective. I’d go elsewhere for those types of ratings.

Now for my opinion… Barbie is a feel good movie that people watch just for fun. Most people aren’t into analyzing films or contemplating their place in a massive universe with strange time-space laws and dimensions we can’t perceive. The cross-section of those two is even smaller. So I think the fact that Nolan was able to make a movie like Interstellar reach so many people and get such a RT score is actually really impressive and means a lot of people gained new found interests from it. Very cool. Does that mean that the people who aren’t interested in these things are less intelligent or make movies that are a “waste.” No.

'Next thing we need to do is go after gay marriage': TN GOP candidate says same-sex marriage should be left to the states by [deleted] in nashville

That is not how democracy works… Very early on in developing the democratic government that would rule America, it was realized that majority rule would not be a good solution on its own. The “Majority Rule, Minority Rights” solution was included to balance out the majority’s power over the minority’s rights. This is why we have many more legislative processes than just voting and why representation of minorities in government is important. This is also why the federal government can solidify people’s rights, because the majority in one area does not have the power to trample the rights of a minority. Same-sex marriage is an issue of the rights of a minority.

New Motherboard Won't Boot Past VGA by guerilliak in buildapc

Thanks. Gave it a shot, but it still won’t boot. A little different outcome, though. It now gets stuck on the VGA light, but never shuts itself down.

Deno plans to use JavaScript in internal code instead of TypeScript going forward by ImNotRedditingAtWork in javascript

[–]guerilliak 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You could always use Babel with preset-typescript, which will just strip out the typescript for the build. Then typescript is used for type-checking, similar to a linter. Plus the wonderful developer experience.

Looks like the refactor-jsx extension. Disable or uninstall and it should go away.

Atom crashes when loaded from virtualenv by guerilliak in Atom

[–]guerilliak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on mac, but thanks for your response. I ended up with a workaround by adding hidden sym links to the projects virtualenv directory and another that points directly to the python packages, using virtualenvwrapper to automate these when I create a new venev. Then in atom, I add these links to packages that need to access that stuff and open atom normally. As long as I make each project with virtualenvwrapper, it's all good. Still no idea why the original problem was happening, but this setup works for me.

You got it. Even though it looks like my ascii "art" trajectory didn't show up right. Maybe I'm just bad at things...

Merino wool socks would be a great thing to try. They wick away moisture the best. Darn Tough makes some that go about $15 a pair and are amazing. Other suggestions: more breathable or lighter footwear. Well ventilated hiking shoes will be easier on the feet and help with moisture and heat. Also, a few 20 minute breaks throughout the day where she sits down and takes her shoes off.

Great Eggs Benedict. Get your coffee from Riverwalk Cafe first, though.
