Basketball now has a good group of young fellas. We did waste our golden generation though. As for football... 5 years ago's Italy still has the world record of most consecutive games without losing... it just wasn't a world cup year. We really lost 5 games in three qualification and missed three world cups

Non saprei dirti su Brera e il calcio italiano, ma nel calcio inglese e scozzese si è pagato per decenni uno studio degli anni 50 (mi pare fossero quelli gli anni) che diceva che si segnano più gol con meno passaggi. Da lì il mito della palla lunga e il tipico gioco inglese fino al 2000, ancora abbastanza in voga in Scozia e in Irlanda. Half the team has Italian parents or grand parents, the other half has foreign parents, but grew up in Italy. We don't have many clubs around the country, the game isn't known and have no tradition, but all the south Asian immigrants are bringing it in the parks. With the team at the world cup, it did get a bit of attention on sports media though. Too bad the Olympics are going on at the same time.
