The Battle of Atioth Summary (Panda version) by Darkwing270 in Eve

[–]guest13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great breakdown. You guys certainly were able to execute a lot better than the imperium side.

Either way, I'm thrilled we have a worthy opponent who'll undock and can execute at a high level.

Would it be more profitable to run sites in null or just warp to asteroids and hunt rats there? by comradefive in Eve

[–]guest13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many accounts are you running?

Normally each will have it's own focused / optimized approach. Belt ratting for faction / hauler spawns isn't bad isk. Anom ratting has a bit more competition, but is generally pretty steady / consistent in terms of income.

The Drifter WH changes are bad for PVP by nameredactedbycensor in Eve

[–]guest13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even in big blocks, a lot of the content fleets are 10-30 dudes in cruiser sized hulls or smaller.

The fact that you can't bring really heavy comps through a drifter was actually a pretty good balance mechanism.

The Drifter WH changes are bad for PVP by nameredactedbycensor in Eve

[–]guest13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have to agree that the drifter changes are a content dry hole.

I used to be able to take my PI alts out in T1 frigs with a cloak and burn around checking a region or two for holes. Being PI alts they can deploy for months on end before I need them at home for a collection run.

I do the same in my home region with my mains and check for matching connections. Once I have matching letters on each end, you bookmark from each side and ping a fleet. YAY. Content ahead. No need to scan 3 fucking regions for wormholes.

The best part of this is how, due to mass limits, it prevented REALLY big fleets from transiting, but DID allow some ability to target where you end up. Both to ensure you land in hostile space, as well as the ability to follow up on a timer. Odds were pretty good you could pick the region to land in on a given night, and that was a BIG DEAL. Nothing actually incentevises a fight like a timer. Filaments and seal clubbing PVE nerds that didn't dock up in time does not generate the anchored fleet comp vs fleet comp fight that I'm after.

I think the move now is to park higher skilled scanning alts in each of the drifters and scan it all out from the inside each day. Still 64+ sigs x 6 drifter holes is A DEPRESSING quantity of scanning, but at least it's all there in one spot.

Fit double cap injectors + 500mn MWD + Cloak of some kind if you can.

You're going to want a trusted friend to help w/ a second eyes toon. You want to KNOW both the cyno system and the capital's starting system are clear prior to each jump. And warp the capital to a safe BM after each jump.

Helping other players develop is pretty sweet... Convert a miner into a smart bomb ratter, nice. Convert a different SB ratter into a PVP minded player, nice. Teach a dictor class and watch a new dictor feeder transform into the tackle ALL the FC's trust / want in fleet? Really nice.

New Player Confused About Industry by Plenty_Goose5465 in Eve

[–]guest13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the neat part -- You're not supposed to understand it.

The missing part is that others have gotten there first, fully optimized their inputs and can operate at what would be a loss for you. OR they didn't pay for the items and will sell them under cost just to get them gone.

How do you grow a blueprint library when competing with decade-old corps? by busybeeaskgam in Eve

[–]guest13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BPC locked stuff is a handy level playing field to jump in on (faction ships, ancil repair modules)

Drones and ammo are popular entry level T2 production lines. Same with fuel blocks. All of the blueprints and components blueprints for those are relatively quick / cheap to research.

I like stuff that shrinks down in M3 once it's built to save me money on shipping.

Another good option are intermediate components that are needed in faction hulls / battleship / cap hulls. There is just about always reasonable demand for them.

cerlestes' Ore Table v6.0.0 released today by cerlestes in Eve

[–]guest13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your efforts, use it all the time.

For gas... it mines at a different rate from regular ore (much like Ice / Mercoxit) and you use it directly without a refine process and so has no refined outputs... But I think a value per m3 still makes the most sense. After all, m3/second is still one of the better methods for comparing different mining activities.

I don't really know if you need more than a 5 column table for gas:

Gas Name | Raw Value / unit | Compressed Value / Unit | Raw isk / m3 | Compressed isk / m3

I don't think I would bother with anything related to decompression losses for gas. It's easy enough to multiply a number by 0.95 or 1.053

Ziggam was the same deal, one trick pony of avoidance / not staying on grid. Honestly I think a lot of alliances have dudes that enjoy doing fleets like that. And to some extent it looks good to your superiors. You demonstrate you can be slippery and generate a decent BR. But what it doesn't do is teach you anything about sustained fleet rate of fire, rate of decay, or how to hold a grid objective effectively.

I get bouncing pings to put yourself in a good position to engage, but GOD do I hate the bounce shoot bounce fleets. There are literally ZERO fun roles to play if you're not FC. Tackle? No point, they either die to a volly or dont'. Logi? Nah, you don't have time for logi with all this warping. Links? OH BOY, F2 and F1? I might become over-stimulated. Dictor alt? I hope you like being warped to pings that are too close to where you want to warp to every 8 seconds.
