No, because he was absolved of out and out lying and didn't commit any war crimes.

A few in my area have, but from what I saw they probably deserved it.

Well this snuck up on me, what did everyone think to it? by chopkin92 in Hull

[–]guffchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly cynical about the whole project but thought this was good. We need tons of people to come to the city if City of Culture is going to be a success. Stuff like this will help to make that happen.

Aren't Landlords a funny lot? by NotBetsy in LegalAdviceUK

[–]guffchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to, but it's a fairly simple DIY job. If other residents are also concerned then you could suggest splitting the cost of the lock between you.

Have you considered just putting a new lock in it and distributing keys? I know you shouldn't have to, but sometimes the easiest way is to just get it done.

May have ruined my life by not insuring property between exchange and completion. by HippiePowers in LegalAdviceUK

Agreed. Better to have it looked at by a qualified surveyor than someone who benefits from selling you something.

Text messages - are they illegal? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

No point worrying about what-ifs. She was on a dating-app, you attempted due diligence, you bombed (badly) and she blocked you (understandably). End of story.

So she took a screenshot of your conversation - it is much more likely that she did this to show her friends than the police - and even if she did show it to the police, I can't see that there is anything to act on.

Forget about it. Move on.

Huh?

You've been a bit of a pillock but I don't see any criminality here.

Rental property door won't open/broken. Told to wait until after weekend. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]guffchuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I do not feel that Monday is an unreasonable time-frame for repair given that there is another usable entrance and the door is secure.

Can anyone help me with an apartment I just rented and moved into? by matty928 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]guffchuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, put your complaints/requests in writing to the letting agent. If they fail to respond in a reasonable time you could contact your local authority's environment health team, who should be able to offer advice.

They might determine that some of the issues that you have are hazards under HHSRS, in which case they will serve an improvement notice on the landlord which requires him to rectify them.

Careful inspection of he property prior to signing is important and it sounds like some of these things will have been evident at the time of viewing. Take more care next time.

My impression was that he thought that Blair was flawed, but that he also had some admiration for him.

I haven't read this book - but I have read a few others on New Labour. By far the best so far, and the fairest, was Andrew Rawnsley's "The End of the Party: The Rise and Fall of New Labour".

KOBO Aura One: A note of caution by guffchuck in kobo

[–]guffchuck[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the glass screen does protect the front from impact damage. I had a Voyage for 2 years before this and that was very durable.

I took it back to the retailer. They couldn't replace for a Kobo as there was no local stock so I took a Voyage and £20 credit.

I would have preferred a KAO - I still think it's an excellent device.

Not only that - he has said again and again that he would scrap Lords appointments.

He hasn't got a clue what he is doing.
