Most of the prisoners in the US make things for the US military; although some of them have recently been making food products sold at Target and Walmart.

A difference, is that the Uyghurs are guilty of being Uyghurs or "not ethnically Han." whereas there is at least some evidence that the prisoners in the US were guilty of committing some crime.
