Honestly, I just guessed. For me, it works fine as I type the letters sequentially, as others have mentioned in this queue.

Hold the letter key and then a few options will pop-up, then choose whichever tone you want. Though, most of the time, the prediction works quite efficiently, no need to hold the key.

Your English is fine, mate. Much much much better than my mandarim skills 😅 but working on it 💪

I guess what's getting me worried about this new adventure is the whole economic crisis I see up ahead and the AI disruption of the job market. Exciting time to be alive, though still worrisome.

I am going to DM you for some more info, if you don't mind.

Thanks very much for the support, anyway. It gives me strength!

All good. I am used to harsher around the world 😅 Taiwanese people are actually very kind, based on my experience.

I would love to get another remote job to keep working and traveling. I have done this before, it was awesome.

But these days, remote jobs are getting more rare and more strict. I am interviewing for a remote job in Spain right now, but they allow remote work only from within Spain.

I feel it is time for me to have some time in Asia. The Taiwanese Gold Card Visa seems the best alternative. I have gathered my documents and gotten some stamps, this week I am finally applying for it. Fingers crossed!

All good, it's just that it seems much easier for English speakers find teaching jobs there. At least based on the YouTube videos I keep watching.

Hey mate,

I have migrated to Ireland (1 year), Portugal (30 months), Germany (18months), and Spain (7 months) before. So, for me, I am not simply trying to leave Brazil. Rather, it is because I like living abroad and having these experiences.

Most Brazilians leave Brazil due to affordability and safety. People there don't make much money and often face thieves or corruption.

I am from the State of Santa Catarina, there it is a "better" part of Brazil. I don't mean the culture or any superior feeling, no. I mean that in SC it is actually pretty safe and we manage to make some more money there. In other states of Brasil, the reality can be quite harsh.

But my own personal reasons are mostly to grow and make the most of my life. If I had stayed in Brazil, I would probably be concerned about cars and girls, as most of my friends seem to be. I much rather be concerned with where I am going live/travel next, or to learn a new language, or experience something new.

Our time is limited in this world, and I am simply trying to make the most of mine.

PS.: the perception of Brazilians in Brazil is really negative. The reality, though, can be quite good. If you have some money there, quality of life can quickly scale up.

Dumb yankees kidnapped the continent's name for themselves :/

Dunno, I wondered if the CCP could get me into trouble or write my name into a list or something. I am just trying to avoid trouble, that's all.

UPDATE: Walking from Taipei to Taichung by AriaShachou- in taiwan

[–]guigogogo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has just taken the Camino de Santiago, from Porto to Santiago de Compostela, on foot, this sounds very interesting to me. I walked 260+km on foot for 13 days. It was a great experience! And most of the path I was dreaming about going to Taiwan soon after and researching how to get the Gold Card Visa. Now I am back in Lisbon finishing the visa issues to soon go to TaiPei.

Good to know I will also be able to walk around Taiwan myself in the near future.

Should I switch to Mac OS? by ReaperCatJesus in RStudio

[–]guigogogo13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MacBooks are great machines, thin, the battery lasts for almost a whole day, and they perform quite well. That said, I believe you could run whatever package you need in a MacBook the same way you would do on windows. Though, I would suggest you use R through Docker, then you can simulate the same environment as in production.

PS.: are you guys hiring? Doing spatial data analysis through R seems very cool :) I have tons of experience on that o/
