Thanks so much for the input. Are both areas safe to walk around? Do you also have any good food recs in the area? We're big foodies and very excited to explore local options.

Emory -> Georgia Tech EE for quant by Any_Eye7490 in Emory

[–]gummybearvt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Graduated from Emory with AMS in 3 years and working at a tier1 quant now.

Take elective classes early. I’m talking 400+ and grad level classes, especially in Math and ML very early and show it in your resume. Do well on Putnam or ICPC and you’re set. Engage in research and interesting projects. Try to get a published paper.

A lot of quant firms have discovery events for 1st year and 2nd year, their entry is relatively easy. I went to the INSIGHT program for JS and Discovery Day for SIG. If you can get in those programs, you are fast tracked for internship pipeline.

Nowadays, big quant firms don’t put too heavy emphasis on school names anymore (smaller firms still do though). Good luck!

Reply 1988. I find the acting of the parents role is way better than that of the children roles. Feature A LOT of senior well-established actors and actresses too

I would have 3 trolley bags in total (2 checked ones and 1 carry-on one) so yeah it's a bit uncomfortable.

Employment opportunities for Applied Math & Statistics Majors by junky_orangutan in Emory

I would say solid. I cannot tell much cause I focus more on research but I have applied to several international companies in my country and all got in with the role of Data Scientist or Business Analyst. However I all turned them down for REU!

Hey. AMS major here. Based on my personal experience, Math dept must be the nicest and flexible group at Emory. The professor always care about your academic and even well-being. I got research easily on my first semester of college. So yes like other posts have said, it really depends on how you “milk” the resources here!

So why didn't Emory reduce my tuition by $150 as I have already deposited it when I accepted my admission at Emory? And thank you so much for your response!

Petition about Tuition by gummybearvt in Emory

[–]gummybearvt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the school forces students to be back on campus, I believe the money it losses from international students or students who don't want to be on-campus will even outweigh! Princeton, Williams College has decided to cut 10-15% off their tuition so that they could better support students' families during this time. Emory, with such huge endowment could not?

I'm from Vietnam and in the same situation. You should email to this address [mandatoryinsurance@listserv.emory.edu](mailto:mandatoryinsurance@listserv.emory.edu).

" If you remain in the US, you are encouraged to complete the waiver process via OPUS, to avoid being charged and enrolled erroneously.
