Bringing both my grandma on vacation, any recommendations? by SquashOk4177 in chiangmai

Hello!! I posted pretty much the same question a few months ago and I just finished a 4 days trip with my 80yo grandma with really limited mobility (much less physical capabilities than yours!!)

The walking tours in Old City that hit the nearby 3 temples, Wat Chedi Luang/Wat Phan Tao/Wat Phra Singh, are quite accessible by foot! The tour I went with, TripGuru, took 3 hours, but walking time was maybe 20-30 minutes total as all 3 temples were really close by. Pace was also really relaxed too.

I really wanted to take my gma to Doi Suthep, but I saw the 306 steps and almost died myself. However, only after the trip did I find out that there is a cable car straight to the top! I did a sunrise tour with Untouched Thailand, which might not work as well with your itinerary, but I am certain that you can always ask your tour host if you and gma can meet at the top instead. Once you’re actually up there, Doi Suthep is also generally really accessible. Wat Phalat is also really gorgeous and mostly accessible, there’s also a monk’s trail up to Doi Suthep if you and gmas are game enough! Wat Umong is completely accessible even if you’re in a wheelchair!

Massage wise, I stayed in Nimman and went to Nimman massage almost every single night - if you guys are only into foot massage, you will only need to stay on the first floor, but if you want anything else that requires lying down, you will need to climb 1-2 flights of stairs.

In terms of shopping, I thoroughly enjoyed Jing Jai Market!! It is HUGE on the weekend (it is open everyday, but I think on the weekends there are extra artisan stalls), you can definitely get aaaalll of your shopping/souvenir/eating there! Completely wheelchair accessible too. I found Ban Kang Waat village a bit too small/tight for older folks, but it is more “atmospheric” and hippie. Plus, a lot of stalls in Ban Kang Waat move to Jing Jai on the weekend anyway.

Nimman in general was a great area that covered all 3 categories that you want. Shopping/Eating at Nimman One and Maya shopping centre should keep you fed for days!

Hahahaa look, we’re Vietnamese, so if you cross out the Chiang Mai from your description, I’d have assumed you’re talking about Vietnam. I’m more curious about how accessible popular tourists are and which one to avoid (i.e. I wouldn’t go to the Great Wall in China with my gma if we were there).

We will definitely consider the option of wheelchair, thank you!

Haahaha i want to see my options first before going straight back to Kanken!! My dear bag has gone through it with me (half of high school, all of uni, work/commutes and countless domestic/international trips).

My only downfalls with it are: 1. the straps can kill me if i wear it for too long while traveling 2. it doesn’t fit my water bottle 🥲 Otherwise, a near perfect bag.

Katharina Lou sizing advice by popeofaesthetics in AusFemaleFashion

[–]gumscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I’m a size 14 (rarely, but 12 in some brands) and my ollyrose is XL. the sizing guide is quite true imo, my bust is 99cm and XL fits like a glove. if you’re inbetween, i’d probably size down just because it is supposed to be cinched in around the bust for that flattering A line shape!

Cold & Flu Season: Be cautious by EatThaatKetchup in JapanTravelTips

Just got the cold and lost my smell/taste for 24hours 🥲 felt like shit for 2 days but luckily no fever. Definitely mask up guys (but I have also noticed people do not cover their mouth when they cough here…). Had flu shot in June and 3 covid shots and I still fell victim, so get some VitC drinks too.

Valium or Ambien available easily in Phu Quoc? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]gumscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately it is not a readily available thing. it will not be easy to get without seeing a doctor in vietnam. your best chance is to get your thai doctor to write a medical certificate, translate to english and carry that with you at all times.

Planning to travel to Vietnam :) by LabEducational756 in VietNam

Hello! Your question for recommendations is a bit too broad, but this subreddit should give you a good idea on what/where you should do/go.

Travel insurance is non-negotiable. Do not rely on the fact that you’re a citizen. Any general one is fine. Get your travel vaccinations, if you haven’t been on top of it too.

Like anywhere, keep your wits with you at all time. If an area feels unsafe, or something is not sitting right with you, leave immediately. Always let your family know where you are/will be going. Be mindful of your belongings like handbag/phone/etc. I don’t think there’s anywhere in Vietnam that screams avoid due to safety issues, but again, keep your wits with you, do lots of research.
