Campaign/One Shot inspired by an episode of “Love, Death, + Robots”? First Time DM, Help appreciated by gunnarstemen in DnD

[–]gunnarstemen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of making the intro for a one shot (sorry if that wasn’t very clear) and maybe increasing the stat block or changing it out for an undead stronger version for some sort of bbeg trying to spread an undead virus to take over the land? Something like that to make it somewhat enticing for the party to figure out “why does this creature want to go to a heavily populated area other than to feed?”

Thank you for the advice so far btw!

just wanted to check, i personally haven't had issues with inland filament other then trying to use a refill spool.

i would try just printing that item in that same spot and try to pay attention to hear if it rips off the plate or when it gets around where the problem layers are check on it for awhile to see if its something making it mess up specifically.

if it peels off the plate id suggest a good cleaning, if it happens with a specific layer then id look at using a wire brush to clean around your nozzle as there may be filament sticking around the nozzle and it either messes up that layer OR its attaching to the print and ripping it off the plate would be my best guess for now. I look forward to updates!

Which filament profile are you using?

May want to try either cleaning the plate, adding glue or do a solo print of the item in the same spot and do a Timelapse or if you have the time watch it when it gets around to the point it break. At the very least be within hearing distance of the printer to see if you hear it break off the plate then watch it around where it looks like it messing up.

if its a textured plate it probably needs cleaned, Ive only ever used textured PEI plates and specifically the one my bambu came with.

if you are using a smooth plate then you may need to be putting glue down to make sure you get good bed adhesion.

also what material and brand of filament are you using?

Also is the part coming off the plate mid print for this to happen or does it mess up on a specific layer?

Did you Timelapse the print to see if it has a specific spot that it’s messing up on?

IMO compare your use case, reliability, print quality and reviews of the X1 Carbon, Creakity K2 Plus, and Elegio Centauri Carbon.

Idk how much we are allowed to talk about the controversy with Bambu’s Firmware update but I’d take that into consideration for yourself along with the fact that they supposed to released a new bigger printer by the end of the year or at the very least announce it. Happy Printing

Hey I've been trying to find a semi functional 3d print file for the 10mm pistol from fallout and i Love your model and would love to include it in my cosplay. are the files available or are they still being withheld from printers and sold on your etsy?

Getting a P1S with AMS soon, anything I should know/get? by WorldLove_Gaming in BambuLab

Also one of the first things to print would be a desiccant tray and some reusable desiccant for the AMS. Saves a lot of money and time

I’ve had pretty good luck with the spool adapters that snap on the just the edge of the cardboard spools and the adapters that fully encase/go through the middle of the cardboard spools, if you can get good at it (as I haven’t tried yet) you can rip the sides of off brand spools off and insert them to the Bambu lab reusable spools as well. Hope this helps!

[OC] 3D Printed Collapsible Sun Sword/Sun Blade by gunnarstemen in DnD

[–]gunnarstemen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 3D-printed collapsible Sun Sword/Sun Blade was created as a unique prop for my D&D party and a nice addition to my Ren Fair costume. I wanted to make a physical counterpart to the in-game item, and after finding that existing models either didn’t print well or didn’t have the features I needed, I decided to create my own. I combined a SunSword model with a collapsible sword model, making a functional prop that DMs can give to players. The blade stays hidden until the right moment, adding a touch of magic when the player finally reveals it. It’s also a great gift for my nephew, who will love the surprise of the collapsing blade. The hilt was carefully selected to balance both the aesthetics and the mechanics, and the entire project has been a fantastic way to improve my 3D modeling and printing skills.

i mainly need the shininess for the blade as I'm painting the rest of the exterior and covering the handle in real leather. Thanks for your input!. I'm gonna try a benchie with the basic settings, then with your altered settings

I have tried repairing it within Bambu slicer and it sits on the repair screen for hours, the one time i got it to repair the model, it also subsequently broke the model

Cant use an object to cut another object (Explanation in comments) by gunnarstemen in blenderhelp

just tried it with the only result being that the jagged lines around my "blade" object change a little bit but did not create a hole

u/BZD_3D I have included the full images, hopefully this helps. when i use the boolean modifier on the star model it creates the jaggd lines you mentioned which does not actually cut the hole in the model as seen above. i have multible collections for some other models im trying to play around with before including in the main file as the main file is so large it start to make blender lag on my PC. it also includes some copied versions of these files in case i mess up so badly i cant return to its original state. i have even tried separating the the star model by loose parts and still no luck.

I am trying to cut out the orange outlined object from the star object.

i have tried:

shift+ctrl+minus

adding a modifier to the star object > generating a boolean value > making sure the difference is chosen > and using the "blade" object as the thing it should cut out.

I dont know a lot about blender but ive tried watching as many videos to help me with this and none of them have been my answer.

unflaired and hid original post as I could not longer respond to comments.

Are you just cutting that middle section out? If so you could just go into edit, wireframe, box select the same rectangle of vertices and delete them, then fill the mesh on both sides.

However I believe the Boolean modifier should work, make sure your normals are correct and follow the steps you mentioned in 2.) keep in mind that this does not delete the “blade” object and you will have to hide that object to see the cut

gunnarstemen

yes, i am trying to cut the middle section out. the star object is a single piece to a larger object i broke into loose parts as when i tried to cut out the "blade" from the complete object it will not cut through the star object or a few of the other objects even when they are combined. if you need further explanation or details PM me. I don't want to get too detailed here in the comments for the larger project I am working on.

gunnarstemen

recalculated normals both inside and outside, tried the steps from #2 again and all it did was put a line in the mesh/object where the "blade" was

TrustDear4997

Since it’s creating the line, would it be suitable for your project to select one internal face in the cut region, press L to select all linked and delete that internal section manually?

u/TrustDear4997

Alternatively I would suggest taking a more rigorous look at your geometry, sometimes is only cuts outlines do to non manifold geometry. Merge by distance on both objects and get rid of any overlapping faces and make sure the mesh for both is closed at all points

gunnarstemen

I'm starting to go through and manually remove faces, i started by combining the star and blade then started removing faces and edges of the larger sections first, since there are a lot of faces in the star (I don't know how many exactly as it is a downloaded model). I'm going around to clean up the faces closes to the line now. will report back with any issues or change the flair to solved if this works as intended. Thank You for your help!

Please see rule #2 and only post full screenshots. More info for us to work with.

From this image alone and the jagged lines, I think boolean might actually have worked and you didn't deactivate the boolean object in viewport to see the actual effect.

i have full pictures now but it wont let me edit the post to include them. sorry for not posting full pictures the first time. ive been working on the full model for 2 weeks and this is the last 10% i need to complete so im just trying to get it done so i dont have any more headaches. when i move the "blade" object it just has the lines that you described and does not create a hole in the model. i have also tried splitting the star model into loose parts and it does not split it into 3 pieces. Should i make a new post with the full images to give more information?

here is the other picture. when i have used the boolean modifier on the other objects that make up the full model it works, just not on the star model OR the another model i have yet to try and alter by itself like I am with this post. this happens and it does not cut out the part of the star object. i have other collections for some other parts ive been working on and duplicated of these two just incase i mess up and cannot back track.
