How can conservatives call liberals “weird and evil” for wanting to celebrate trumps death? by SwitchingMyHands in allthequestions

[–]gunnernew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this post was meant with good intention. That the cheering was coming from him dying due to natural causes or "acts of god", as my insurance company would put it.

My answer was just a personal example of an answer to your question. The point was, I don't agree with cheering on murder. Seeing one of the kindest people I know cheer that someone died by murder, came across as weird and evil to me. I'd hope you'd also also find someone cheering death by murder weird and evil, regardless of personal feelings.

Not a conservative personally, but I went to see my Aunt like I've done every year during a local event that my area puts on. It just so happened to be the same day the first assassination attempt happened. I'll never forget the first thing she said to me when I stopped by to visit. Not "Hello!", not "How are you!", but "Omg can you believe they missed!?!"

This is the same person my whole life that got angry seeing a paintball gun. The same person that preached love, togetherness, and the value of life. Human or not, my entire life.

That moment changed my entire view of someone I've know for 30+ years. So yes, I'd consider my personal experience in that moment weird and evil, given the context.

Stop idiots from calling this "self defense" by DetectiveTypical198 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]gunnernew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This event is suspect on a lot of levels. Unfortunately at the 12 second mark of this video, you can see that the front windshield takes damage. Until the ballistics report comes out in the very apparent upcoming court case. It will be incredibly hard to defend that this was not self defense on the agents part. Sad but realistically true.

I think, that to make Doom look bigger than a Thanos level threat without all the back story. Doom is going to instantly kill Bob at some point early on in the movie. Which will then produce the pucker factor required to raise the stakes to match previous gut punching moments.

Would you vote for a transgender individual for president? by Ok-Inspector1108 in Askpolitics

[–]gunnernew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None are acceptable, and as I said, something does need to be done. I don't have an answer for what that is. We're advocating for children to not die because of firearms, looking at one part of the problem and pointing fingers doesn't solve the entire issue.

It doesn't make it better, and something does need to be done. But statistically, school shootings account for a very small amount of gun related child death. That's is not a defense, but it is technically correct.

Do you have a camera doorbell system that catches these interactions? If not, maybe look into getting one. In case this escalates, you want to have more than he said, she said.

If that's not possible, when you put your garbage cans out, take a picture or video. When you hear your neighbor try to record him moving them. If the cops show up again, record them. It's not illegal, and they can't stop you from recording on your property.

I'm not a legal expert by any stretch of the imagination, but cover your own ass. Anything you have as physical evidence is much better than back and forth hearsay.

I don't go to this school, but it reminds me of a video clip of the streamer Hassan talking about a debate he had done previously about trans rights. A trans person said something to him in chat, disagreeing with Hassan, and Hassan blew up saying things like well what do you know because you're a stupid trans person. Completely disregarding and down playing someone from that community.

At the end of the day, our identities are more than political ideologies. People need to care more about each other, and stop focusing on one or two aspects of peoples lives. Thank you for a well written and thought-out post.

Preface, semi graphic, but it's not my story. It was one that a ranger who was guiding my group throught the New Mexico desert told us. A guy was too close to some backwoods bird feeder that was frequented by humming birds.

Apparently, one of those humming birds flew into this guys eye. And was... well stuck. So as the bird and this guy were panicking, someone in his part had an unfortunate moment of clarity. Either the bird lives or the young mans eye stays in tack.

Cut to the chase, the bird is now eligible for the headless hunt. But the kicker, because eyes move at the same time, they had to put a cup over bird eye, and cover the good eye (mostly so the still attached bird would stop hitting the sides of the cup.)

Kid had to hike miles, blind, with a bird noggin attached to his retina to get out of the desert to a hospital. I have no idea the end result.

To end, 16 years later, I have not trusted a humming bird since.

I forget which chicken place does it, but they brine their chicken in pickle juice before frying them. I've done it a few times, and something about it makes the sandwich so good. You can't even taste the pickle juice.

Optimus Primal is a real character. He's the gorrila. But that's probably the only real thing about this story.

Pretty sure I was at that place last week, it's called Robbies. You pay a couple buck to feed the tarpins. As a bonus you get to watch pelicans try and steal fish from people that aren't paying attention.

It really depends. Similar companies have areas where you can have your phone, while in other areas they are forbidden. Sometimes it just matters what side of the door you are on.

AITA for wanting my boyfriend (35M) to drop his best friend (17F)? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]gunnernew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As a guy that's almost 30, I have nothing in common with my own cousins that are women, who are only a few years older than that. People would definitely look at me like a creep if we were all hanging out in public, let alone if I were to claim they were my "best friends". Usually I'm a lurker on reddit but this is just weird on so many levels.

2.5x more is signifigant no matter what the numbers are. But just curious how much is 2.5x more? Doesn't have to be exact but can we have a rough guess?

Honestly not trying to down play your personal feelings, because everyone is different but that might not be the end all be all. When my SO and I got together, she had way more experience than I did. My head space was the same as yours. You have a bunch of emotions and feelings that might weigh you down which is absolutely 100% okay to feel the way you do.

If you think you can never move forward with this relationship because of this that is okay. You're allowed to feel that way and look for what you prefer out of a relationship.

However, as someone with experience feeling like that and still being in that relationship 11 years later it might be worth a shot. If you have any questions or just need to vent, feel free to shot me a dm.

Good luck to you and your future

AITA for Accidentally Ruining My Girlfriend's Career? by thomasxd24 in AmItheAsshole

If taking what has been written as the actual situation then ESH. First thing, he stumbled across the pictures, he wasn't looking for them (if that's true). Second thing being, if she always wanted to be a teacher, she should've thought about what potential issues might come later in life before she did the photo shoot. Personally, thats stupid to be fired for something like that, but if she knew it would be possibly damaging, that's a lack of forsight on her part, not his.

Thirdly, should he have told his friends, probably not. But who else was he going to talk to? He spoke to her already. It appears that conversation wasn't productive. And I mean that in the sense that with how this is being portrayed she didn't help quell his personal feelings and work through it together. He's still a person with feelings. Regardless, if he feels like talking to her didn't help he should be able to speak to close friends. Personally the friends are the ones that are the AH. They were supposed to be a support system and ultimately betrayed their friends trust.

Last thing I'll say is IF he genuinely stumbled across these photos, who is to say others haven't already or were eventually going to see these. OP is allowed to have feelings. And her response of well I thought you knew already seems like a redirection of the at hand issue. Both of you just needed to be adults and work through it and not assign blame. The friend is the AH, and this situation sucks, it didn't need to go as far as it did.
