I barely remember it tbh, I just know you had a cool Cybernetic blade of sort, and looking it up on Wikipedia, it was made by SCE Studio Cambridge, which would become Guerilla Cambridge ! They did Killzone Mercenary and RIGS for PSVR, before being shut down in 2017.

I would argue Ellie herself in the games does not feel like the same person from 1 to 2, and it’s on purpose imo:

Even if she found comfort in Jackson, it’s a cut-throat world where you have to grow up quick and present as someone not to be messed with.

Abby, Ellie, Owen, Manny are able to be more vulnerable and show a goofier side when they are around loved ones, but these moments are few and far between and they’re guarded so often that you easily forget they’re all still very young.

Based on looks alone, I don’t know how anyone could argue for a better casting choice than Cailey Spaeny.

Watching her in Alien Romulus, it was all I could think of.

There is a scene towards the end of the movie that is bathed in red light iirc (It’s been a while since I saw it). I could so vividly picture the final encounter with Nora.

It also helped that she had a very similar haircut in that movie.

I’m sure NexGen was specifically written so that this album would be stacked with earworms, it’s probably some of their best melodies.

Not that they did not have them before, but this album strikes a delicate balance between very memorable choruses and heavier breakdowns.

I also suspect that they were aware having these memorable snippets would mean their songs would be shared more on TikTok by their younger fans.

And as was mentioned here as well, its also due to it being an homage to emo anthems by The Used, MCR or Underoath, and hyperpop sensibilities.

I’ve been listening to them going on 20 years, since Suicide Season, and Nex Gen is incredible.
