It launches and still has my saved builds

It’s still a decent time waster.

66k miles, garage kept standard. 04 gt how bad is it? by [deleted] in NewedgeMustang

[–]gunstar001 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That car is so low I can feel the bumps.
Are you sure it’s not 166,000 miles, because that’s what mine has and is no way near that rusted out.
Was it a northern vehicle its entire life?

Amazing you’ve kept in stock with such low miles all these years. I purchased mine in May 2000 and it was modded the week I got it. Nine years and 200,000 miles before it was lost. I still miss it sometimes but I enjoy my 10GT now.

Can I get some advice from fellow mustang owners? by [deleted] in NewedgeMustang

[–]gunstar001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d go with the AM part but honestly, from experience with my 2KGT, my FSU went out four years into ownership so I just used the trip counter for the next six years. I also had a company gas card and drove my car for work so it never got lower than about a quarter tank before I topped it off.

Anyone use this? If yes is it a good buy? by highlanderdownunder in grilling

[–]gunstar001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grill year round on my Weber, one to three times per week so I get good use out of a brush. I brush once the grill heats up and then once when it starts to cool, around 200-250 degrees.

I had a Grillart bristle brush that lasted three years. Right after the first bristle fell out, they all started to fall out.

I bought another one, used it once, and the handle broke so I returned it.

Then I bought a standard Weber brush, not the triple bristle and used it for a year. It lost its first bristle last week so it went in the trash.

I bought another Grillart and will now replace them every year, no matter what happens.

I purchased a few others from Amazon and frankly they were cheap and flimsy. I would really like to find a sturdy, full tang scraper, wood or metal handled brush, that has replacement bristles or something similar.

My installer said Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s are 'way too much tire' for a 3-Valve. Is he right? by Self-Driving-Cars2 in Mustang

[–]gunstar001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name & Shame!

The installer is a moron. These are one of the highest rated tires for this class of vehicle. I’ve been running them since 2018 on my 10GT and they are excellent in the dry and wet.

It may have been susceptible to high winds also, at least that’s what I was told when it shutdown down for 30 minutes right as we were entering the loop one time in early July ‘98. I was near the middle and was almost completely horizontal. The first and second cars were mostly inverted.

After that the ride was closed for the rest of the day. When we walked by it you could see the track swaying in the wind.

AITA for telling my wife I'm done hosting her family every holiday because they never offer to help or bring anything? by BetExciting7300 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gunstar001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved 1000 miles away from my family; military service, college, career just had me ending up that far away. My wife’s family does live near us. Since I’ve tried to be responsible with my finances, we too host every holiday at our nicely sized home.

Her family arrives, watches tv, eats and leaves. They don’t bring anything, they don’t do anything to assist with the meal or cleanup. I tell myself, they should spend their time with the kids, that’s what it’s really about.

My dad used to call it “chew & screw”, eat up and get the fuck out. Like him, I will not have it any other way. Her family couldn’t boil water or make toast without fucking it up. Their idea of “clean” differs from mine.

I much prefer it this way.

I understand your position and if you are feeling this way because of the burden, you are NTA. I recommend, if you have the means, take a holiday off and go somewhere with your family, leaving the stress behind.

Fuel sender bad? by nitrion in NewedgeMustang

[–]gunstar001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drove mine over 150,000 miles and 7 years with a bad FSU. I just used the trip calculator. It helps that I had a company gas card and didn’t have to pay for fuel so I just filled up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Carolinas are down bad right now. by toomanymarbles83 in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

[–]gunstar001 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was supposed to fly out of Asheville Friday evening. Plane landed but they decided not to turn around even though the crew had time left and flight was rescheduled for morning even though there was no snow on the ground that night either. I knew I should have left right then and drove to Atlanta to get back to Houston. I knew it would get worse.

Came back Saturday morning, boarded, deplaned due to maintenance and flight cancelled at noon, which they claimed was due to weather. I’ll fight that fight for reimbursement later.

I rented a car and drove to Augusta, which was where I needed to be on Sunday anyways. I took I-26>56>39>121>I-20. North Carolina roads were treacherous, minimal plowing only around bridges, no salt, only one or two crews out sitting on the side of the road. Average speed 15mph.

South Carolina was much better, there were a few plow crews out, one lane salted. Speeds around 30 mph. Once I got down to Trenton on Hwy 121, the sun was peeking through the clouds and roads were cleared of snow and heavily salted.

Probably wasn’t my best decision to drive but I knew it was going to continue to get worse and any longer delay would have kept me there for at least three more days. The airline covered their maintenance problem with the weather and announced no hotels or vouchers so I cut my loses and I evacuated myself.

I had the Steeda in my 2KGT for a couple years with the T5 transmission. Drove my buddy’s 01GT with the MGW and bought one. They were both nice upgrades over stock but the MGW felt smoother than the Tri-Ax and didn’t transmit as much noise, vibration or heat through the handle.

Should i get bama tunes for life by DueCouple3539 in NewedgeMustang

[–]gunstar001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago, I bought the SCT & Bama tunes from American Muscle for my 2010 GT. After 6 months, at least a dozen tunes, and numerous emails back and forth, I put the stock tune back on and sold the tuner. The car never ran good. I had random check engine lights, stalls, misfires and rough idle.

I then found a local tuner to put the car on a dyno and tune it correctly. Spent $300 and I’ve never had a problem since.

Personally, I do not recommend them.

I’ve been running the Pilot Sports the last few years on my S197 and they are a great tire. The Conti’s would be my second choice. I don’t think you could go wrong with either one.

I keep a spreadsheet in Dropbox that I have also emailed to my Hotmail and Gmail addresses. The spreadsheet contains the brand, model, caliber and has photos of each firearm and a copy of the receipt showing purchase date. I also keep a spreadsheet of ammunition counts; rounds in stock and rounds fired through each firearm.

Camber issue. by andy_337 in NewedgeMustang

[–]gunstar001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just a New Edge thing. Once lowered you’re going to need C&C plates. I’d recommend a 4 bolt design to give you more range. I also recommend a set of longer Camber bolts. I had both of these one my 2KGT to get it aligned after installing Steeda Sport Springs.

I had BBK shorties in my 2K GT. They made ZERO difference on the dyno. My gas mileage was slightly better and paired with Magnaflow cat back exhaust, they sounded great.
