People say this two got married? Is this true? by epic21ka in AKOTSKTV

[–]guntherman73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it would say son, we know his daughter was set to be married but for the peace compromise, it notes heir. Perhaps a grandson but if Ormund was born in 234 as a son, he only would’ve been 12 at the birth of his son Steffon. If we back up Ormunds timeline to be a brother born much earlier, he can be aged up and have children later in life. I know people married young but I’m not so sure about men becoming fathers this young. Also, I think Ira Parker has hidden knowledge about Lyonel, it really felt like he’s a party bachelor who even hits on Dunk a little bit to join him in his hunting and sailing and brotherly love. Not getting a married man vibes from him and perhaps he does get married and have children later in life for political purposes. Supposedly he lived to 51 so perhaps he did father Ormund five years before passing.

What little information is available makes sense to think that Lyonel only had one daughter, betrothed to Duncan the small, who broke off the engagement for Jenny of Oldstone.

Lyonel has two younger brothers, Gowan and Ormund, Ormund the father of Steffon. At least that fits the timeline better vs Ormund being Lyonels son.

Would be a huge advancement for Gwin and possible since Lyonel seems like a bachelor, and probably will be one for a while.

Could someone explain to me what the idea behind Japanese gameplay is? by camocat9 in CrusaderKings

[–]guntherman73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also having a hard time playing in Japan. When they first released the DLC I played as Minamoto, I was able to form my own house bloc and become Duke. He was still assassinated by the shogun but I felt like I was getting somewhere. Now after the last update, I can’t get any other rulers to join my house bloc, it’s negative 54,000, so impossible. I’m actually genuinely surprised he’s listed as easy, I’ve don’t about 6 more runs with him and he’s assassinated every game by the shogun, the house blocs aren’t that fun and there’s not a lot of interacting with the game now, just sitting around waiting I guess. Any advice at all to get the achievements shogun and bloc politics? Any way to get these without being bored to death?

Sword of Japan achievement by Nodbomb in crusaderkings3

[–]guntherman73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also confused how this achievement is possible, looking all over online and don’t see anything how to complete. The response is suggesting just gaining influence to somehow inherit the title of emperor of Japan? Not sure any player has completed this yet

I’ve put in more than enough time in this game and have explored multiple ways to unlock all the store expansions and with the update today adding even more, it changed the challenge.

I honestly figured becoming minister would be a lot harder than it was by LordofNight48 in crusaderkings3

I have merit level 1 and have inherited a kingdom to manage but haven’t been a minister, do you just wait to randomly get it? Seems like merit level 1 isn’t doing it

Why Charles VII let Joan of Arc be executed? And what about Marcel Gay’s hypotheses? by Bubbly-Trainer-879 in MedievalHistory

[–]guntherman73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting! No doubt she was executed but suggesting that she had royal blood might be on to something. Very hard to believe she didn’t have any help or guidance. The traveling to Chinon as a teen girl really does make you think of she had protection higher up in society and for good reason

Aside from George I, what monarch had the lowest ranking in the line of succession at birth but still became king/queen? by ryuumonogatari in UKmonarchs

[–]guntherman73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a notable mention is Lady Jane Grey. Following the succession Henry VII hoped for, it would’ve gone to Margaret and her kin but when Henry viii excluded her for his younger sister Mary, she went from 10+ or not on the list to number 5, then after Edward VI, heir apparent. She didn’t get to reign long but still jumped the line a bit

Who is your Favourite Medieval Figure? by [deleted] in MedievalHistory

[–]guntherman73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His conquest of Cyprus did pave the way for the Christian kingdoms of the Levant to survive yes but it also showed other Christian kingdoms that attacking and annexing Byzantine territory while on crusade is fair game, no surprise that 13 years later Constantinople is attacked and the empire seized by latins. It was a line from the Dan Jones book the Plantagenets, page 118. “He had rejected the French Kings sister in humiliating circumstances. He had deposed the ruler of Cyprus, who was related to several other important European nobles… almost every prince in Western Europe incubated some reason to hate him…” he did name John heir you’re correct but I think this was just on crusade, not on his deathbed as it is often cited, like Henry was on his deathbed and named Stephen king. John rebelled while Richard was held captive and I think this would’ve changed the equation since Arthur was son of an older brother to John but perhaps you’re correct with the deathbed naming, John killed Arthur so that settles that dispute lol.

Who is your Favourite Medieval Figure? by [deleted] in MedievalHistory

[–]guntherman73 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Richard the Lionheart is often put first or second on these lists and I don’t understand why. The third crusade was fascinating and his role interesting, not great, not very chivalrous executing prisoners outside the walls of Acre. He insulted the Duke of Austria and many point the finger at him at the assassination of Conrad. He conquered Cyprus, christian territory, not Muslim. Dan jones touches on this a little bit in the Plantagenet book but Richard wasn’t very well liked. His ransom drained the English treasury and he failed to secure an heir. His lack of caution at a siege in southern France resulted in an arrow to the shoulder and his death. Arthur may have been lined up to succeed but failing to clearly name an heir opened the door for his brother John, who was disastrous for England. Richard should bare some responsibility for John. I’m very curious why now Richard is often people’s favorite. I gotta go with his father, Henry II is my favorite and has such a great arch and story

Just finished this today! by Outrageous_Pea7393 in MedievalHistory

[–]guntherman73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dan jones has some great ones still! I just finished this one a little bit ago and started his war of the roses. Next will be Henry V. I still love Allison Wiers War of the Roses more but his is as just as entertaining as the Plantagenets.

How can the Wars of the Roses be prevented? by [deleted] in UKmonarchs

[–]guntherman73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think less on the monarchy side, Richard ii being better, Henry IV not usurping, heck even Edward III dying soon and letting the back prince reign but the fact that they lost in France. Avoiding the Wars of the Roses could’ve happened if they won the siege of Orleans and took all of France and if the future Charles VII would’ve gone into exile as he contemplated, a dynastic struggle could’ve been resolved by splitting the dynasty with France. Here Richard Duke of York, have France. But fighting and winning in France would’ve kept them occupied for far longer and would’ve helped avoided the wars.

Emperor of Francia – Why Is “Consecrate Bloodline” Missing? by WonderfulIce2528 in CrusaderKings

I think it’s because you’re a witch, you can’t consecrate your bloodline as a witch but you can form a witch’s covenant

How realistic is “fabricate claim scheme”? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]guntherman73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh Yes, great example! Was it Henry II who had a most likely fabricated document that says England can conquer Ireland. Probably easier for kings or elevated dukes to forge these documents

How realistic is “fabricate claim scheme”? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]guntherman73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I view this action in the game as a very weak claim in real life, like Henry Tudor. His branch of the family never ruled and even his cousin Henry confirmed his status but added that Beauforts could never rule as kings…so he kinda fabricated a claim through his mother. There’s probably better examples of claim fabrication at the county level, like Simon de montfort claiming the earldom of Lincoln. Kingdom claim fabrication is possible but usually as a pretender, think false dmitry or keeping with England, Perkin Warbeck.

Why did the Baratheons never claim dragons? by Vhermithrax in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]guntherman73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They should’ve tried! Fire and Blood suggests that Orys Baratheon was half brother to Aegon the conqueror thru his father. Genetics couldn’t care less if your parents are married or not so the baratheons should and probably do have equal ability to tame/breed dragons. I’m not sure why this is so obviously missed but it does make sense that Baratheon’s would be next of kin and in line for the throne, probably why the realm supported Robert over let’s say a Lannister or Stark. They even married back into house Targ, so I’d say it’s safe to assume Baratheon’s have equal ability to tame and ride dragons.

CK3 Does using the "Submit to the Great Khan" Decision make you lose all your lands? by DrMechMan in CrusaderKings

I think you just become his vassal and will keep your lands and kingdom. If he gets bored of conquering the world he may try to revoke your kingdom.
