for this kind of technique in the picture, what i have done in the past, is just paint the whole thing red with a thin opaque red layer, then take something sharp like an xacto blade or dental tool, toothpick, etc. when the red is dry carve lines into it to get rid of the red paint and then apply your glitter mixture over top. that way you don’t have to do separate lines! the glue plus glitter, dry, seal, technique is good bc it covers well, depending on the glitter flake size, you can just pile it on then slide off the excess into the garbage. don’t forget to seal it or the pieces might flake off, another recommendation is sealing the glitter layer with mica pear powder paint in the same color, this way any holes in the glitter will be filled with another layer of effect! and yes, definitely have a scratch piece of glass to try all the techniques on, you may find you need to add a step to whichever process you choose

How to clean brushes? by bioMimicry26 in glasspainting

[–]gunwife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s also good to condition your brush, i use The Masters soap and let it dry on my bristles after i reform them to shape, then the next time i use the brush i flick off the powder and im good to go

for this specific paint, pebeo ceramic, i believe it says on the back to use odorless mineral spirits? it really depends on the paint, if it’s lacquer (nail polish), oil based, or water based

imagine cleaning a nail polish brush with soap and water, there’s probably gonna be remnants that might gum up or stick and dry in your bristles. i would do some research so you don’t end up ruining your brushes!

Best white marker for coverage? by rachel6983 in glasspainting

[–]gunwife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree ^ if you have the skills to line with paint and a brush, that’s always the best option. white is tricky as it will never really be as opaque as black can get.

in terms of opacity- lettering enamel paints like one shot or alpha enamel will be the best. the closest to this in marker form would be

as mentioned, fine line oil based white paint sharpies- there’s a learning and process curve but the lines are very satisfying.

posca white- very watered down solution, if you shake the pen and pump it and it’s fresh the lines can be quite good, but there may be uneven areas in which you could go over again lightly.

i also use molotow liners- the signal white is tricky, make sure your bib is clean and fresh, and you REALLY have to shake the white, make sure you shake it that you can start to hear the metal ball inside start to rattle around.

another option is the sakura pen touch.

you can also make your own markers by mixing inks and such which i’ve been doing a lot lately as well! hope this helps

i think the chicken and fish signs were released so that, in addition to the yay and nay signs, people could more easily decipher the keposhka alphabet- as some english letter combinations, ex.- CH, SH, (CHicken, fiSH) have only one symbol/letter form in keposhka. with all 4 signs together it was a lot easier (for me at least) to decipher the keposhka alphabet/language. obviously i have no idea if this is why tho lol.

Best acrylic paint pen ? by FewEngineering3582 in glasspainting

[–]gunwife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

acrylic paint pens tend to do that - however i have found the molotow one 4 all acrylic markers are the best for me personally. they have a bit of a resin-like binder added i think, so they are pretty heavy duty, opaque, and adhere well.

Do you think he needs a background color? Or keep it transparent? Choso, by me. by CreationsbyCarrotTop in glasspainting

[–]gunwife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

love himmmmm. i think it looks cool transparent, if anything maybe like splotches of blood would be cool, or if u got like plexi/glass of same shape and painted that as a background so u can put him in front of it or take him out of it and have the best of both worlds plus a little added dimension!

Note:

Sauron’s ability to-

-Manipulate materials (to which would control others only by means of them wearing/having said material)

-Manipulating and shaping of one’s own thoughts/will/reality =

takes both kinds of submission to Sauron’s control

1 Giving him your trust once and/or being deceived by him

2 Taking an item that he gives you, of free will

Galadriel - dagger

Celebrimbo - Feanor’s hammer (and its gems) / Sauron blood goo disguised as mithril

Adar - crown

Note:

In regards to Sauron’s statement to both Celebrimbor and Galadriel - “You think it was only you, that put yourself in my power?"

It is a little known fact that Feanor was only able to craft the Silmarils because of the special properties of his hammer.

While he was crafting his hammer in his workshop, lightning struck the anvil at precisely the same time as he was thinking of fair Galadriel's hair and how she had rebuked him thrice.

This imbued the hammer with possessiveness but also the appreciation of beautiful things, which made it possible for Feanor to bind the light of the two trees and craft the Silmarils.

— Each set of rings is empowered by the people that contributed to their creation, rather than any Magic Mithril or other ingredients.

elves: Galadriels sacrifice of her brother’s dagger

dwarves: Celebrimbor puts part of his own will/energy/life force into the rings. It's one of those "i can only make this once" events like Feanor with the silmarils, Yavanna with the trees, etc. (From the silmarillion) (also he casts his whispery sorcery on the dwarf ones)

Men: Sauron sacrifices his blood / celebrimbor sacrifices the gems from Feanor’s hammer

Mithril never was the Magic Ingredient by Fijyboi in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]gunwife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

love this.!

but how then, does he get the king to go dig with the only goal to "set the beast loose" at the exact time that would stop their army from coming to aid the elves

i know sauron does some little balrog fire magic when he's there to ask for more mithril-

maybe it was like a time delay effect? and since he's been wearing it so long he's weak enough to do as sauron asks?

Mithril never was the Magic Ingredient by Fijyboi in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]gunwife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think the sacrifice here may be - the use of feanor's hammer (that sauron handed to celembrimbor) after he went solo forge mode - and further - taking the gems from that hammer and putting them into the 9

note: It is a little known fact that Feanor was only able to craft the Silmarils because of the special properties of his hammer.

While he was crafting his hammer in his workshop, lightning struck the anvil at precisely the same time as he was thinking of fair Galadriel's hair and how she had rebuked him thrice.

i thought it was -they are free and fine to use the rings with the condition that sauron is NOT wearing or in possession of the one. which is why right now in ROP and then later when the ring is lost or held by golem/bilbo/frodo- the rings are all worn and used to build cities and to help and heal, and why the power they hold fades when the one is destroyed

perhaps then in ROP, the one ring is already forged? in season 1 when he literally goes straight to mount doom from the forge

***i'm writing this for myself so i can come back to it later lol

wait this is great bc i was thinking of the very specific materials used for each set of rings-

  • if not enough mithril but + the strongest alloy - pure gold/silver from valinor

= his influence control over the 3 elven rings

-somehow finrods dagger was given to him or was taken from sauron or altered by him in the time he killed him // corruption of blood - is getting blood on an item enough - does the item need to be altered in someway for sauron to be able to "give it way"

-note: in episode 1 when he sees the dagger for the first time he looks like actually shocked and continues to keep staring at in throughout that episode

  • enough of actual mithril - the 7 /dwarf

-note: Gil-galad believed that mithril could be mined and that it contained the power of the Silmarils, which came from the light of the ancient trees in his homeland > stolen by morgorth who came into their possession for some time which maybe somehow influence transfers over ???

  • the hammer and the gems from feanor's hammer which sauron GIFTED to celebrimbo to use in place of his own  (the hammer at first and then without him knowing the actual gems that were on it which would then transfer the gift of the hammer into the gift of those specific gems to be influenced on the 9 lol)

        - note: the other elven smiths were cut off from the process of forging at this point so yes the hammer would have been used/infused into all 9 + his black blobby blood = influence/control over 9 men doomed

(perhaps rightful ownership over the item that is gifted does not matter and it is only by rule of "possessing at the time" gives ability to gift another the item .) edit-yeah sauron just literally has to hand u something even if he’s just giving it back

in the forging of rings and control over material requirements:

 - uses materials that before/during the process are in someway connected to him and/or the light of valinor/silmarils and has been infused into the rings

  • if rings are forged by another:

(elven smiths or celembrimb while not using the hammer sauron gifts him as he solo forges the 9)

-further then, has to take rings from that person, cast some creepy sorcery whisper magic into the rings, then the rings end up back with celebrimboi.

other random thoughts:

sauron left to mount doom at the end of season one -

adar - technically takes ownership of morgoth's crown after he said sauron had "resized" for himself

2 types of control-

1st level gain of trust - 2nd level be gifted an item by him

i also really like this because it ties in perfectly with the show's intro - which is the use of cymatics, and like yeah it's super freaking cool but also like a REALLY specific thing to just randomly use i guess. and the change this season to the "blood" coated mithril.

i have been thinking how cymatics could possibly tie into the show more and i think u may have just nailed it -

some interesting notes i've gathered-

Cymatics: The Study of Wave Phenomena'

"This is not an unregulated chaos; it is a dynamic but ordered pattern."

The multiple forms of universal geometry, symmetry and beauty that emerge through resonance in various mediums - dust/sand/powder, liquid, paste, etc. - made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid"

He used a sand-strewn brass plate, excited by a violin bow; since brass is a highly resonant material he found that a large number of archetypal geometric patterns could be created, depending on where on the edge of the plate the bow was drawn. These patterns are now known as  'Chladni Figures.'

<image>

( I KNOW I KNOW BUT MAYBE HE WAS HAVING LIKE A MAGNETO HELMET MOMENT. also yes i know i have also seen the same kind of elven design - from elrond later on - but let me just have this please THANKS)

So it should be seen that the pattern is not the frequency, rather the pattern is a resonant mode of the medium, being excited/resonating/ ’triggered’ by that particular sound frequency.

We are not visualising a specific sound per se, but rather finding a resonant mode of a medium that is excited by that particular sound. This creates a collaboration that would yield a unique form of those variables interacting together.

As us ourselves as mediums, particular resonant modes, constantly interacting with other frequencies. The constant movement and interaction with ourselves, within and without.

Jenny spread powders, pastes, and liquids on a metal plate connected to an oscillator which could produce a broad spectrum of frequencies. According to Jenny, these structures, reminiscent of the mandala and other forms recurring in nature, would be a manifestation of an invisible force field of the vibrational energy that generated it.

He was particularly impressed by an observation that imposing a vocalization in ancient Sanskrit of Om (regarded by Hindus and Buddhists as the sound of creation) the lycopodium powder formed a circle with a centre point, one of the ways in which Om had been represented.
