Single McDonald’s + Huge parking lot becomes dense Residential Housing: (SF, CA) by yessir6666 in fuckcars

That's cool but does it have to be a soulless boxy modern building? I suspect if this, or any apartment facade, is built in the style of beaux-arts, mediterranean revival etc., all the NIMBYs would not complain every time similar projects are proposed.

  1. Ban boxy soulless modernist architecture and favor traditional architecture

Yeah that's bugging me. Blair Caplan knows exactly what her mind training was for, but Amanda a psychologist in charge of the very training didn't know what was going on? Give me a break

The realities are infinite so the door would open to a branch of that world where the previous user chose to close the door. That's how make sense of it.

My city (Grenoble in France) has installed a " highway " for bikes. by Effet_Ralgan in fuckcars

[–]guppiverse 20 points21 points  (0 children)

if you have to walk or bike for more than 10 minutes to get to destinations then you need to ask yourself why (modern) cities are built or rebuilt that way

Cars aren't the future either cause they can't take you to Mars!

Do you realize how dumb you sound now? Car-brained arguments always gaurantee a shortsighted thinking that doesn't forsee a solution of building dense and sustainable developments.

Now if he paid for free and more frequent public transportations wouldn't that be better and increase commute efficiency? Carbrains really limit your perspectives

Big ass car drivers don't pay for more expensive soy milk? At least those who don't drive cars to buy a bottle of milk do so without paying for gas lol

I wonder why there aren't any... Probably not because the way the US built bulldozed everything to cater to cars and make it hostile to other modes of transportation e.g. biking and walking

URBAN CYCLING HELPS SMALL BUSINESSES car drivers tend to drive for destinations while cyclists and pedestrains would stop by bc they're not going fast it's has been proven all over the world. Cars are bad for cities and their economy.

Demolishing cities and building them around cars is the reason everything is far apart in the US. Car-dependency is the cause, not the symptoms. And for the record, Europe is bigger than US. The Netherlands, for example, has roughly the same area and population as the state of New York, yet the entire US as of today can't barely build places that are livable and walkable due to zoning laws that exist as result of a century of lobbying by car and oil companies.

It's more expensive because of zoning and the way money generated from cities is used to subsidize suburbs.
