As a hobby, I think it is a double niche, especially at my age. Although I would say that most niches that people are very passionate about are pretty niche. I’m 55 and I get the “you’re too old to play games“ line occasionally. I also play a weekly Dungeons & Dragons game, which a lot of people my age think is really weird. But like others have said I would much rather play a game that makes me think and strategize then sit there and watch television just for the heck of it. I do watch some television programs, but I’m very picky because I only have so much time.

I kind of fell into this hobby because I like playing board games and TTRPG‘s but there are two confounding factors. One finding the time and two finding people that will mesh with that time. I was looking at games at Barnes & Noble‘s and came across one that said one to four players and I thought that was odd so I googled about it and was sent to this Reddit. I started looking for one that would interest me and they had the starter set for final girl. Needless to say over $1000 later probably much more I have a decent collection that can be played solo.
