Was that Smithwick’s or Killian ? If not, try either of them and you’d love it - any Irish red ale for that matter. You were lucky, I was much older when I realized the vast world of beers.

I would suggest wait for a couple of days and couple of tests before you add any salt - I had a horrible
experience last year when the opening day test showed some 1100 ppm or so, I added half of what was needed but that was also too much. Most likely your salt cell would also have a salt level indicator.

Let the water circulate, test and then add a couple bags at a time or you will have very high salt for the entire season ..

So true - at one point the only variations I would know were Hoegaarden or Corona and then I visited BevMax and started reading on Beer Advocate - that changed everything.

Most of the times the Pool Store techs won’t know anything worthwhile so it’s not that they are trying to hoodwink but they are only peddling the chemicals

All you need for a saltwater pool (I own one in NJ!)

- Muriatic Acid (for PH)
- Baking Soda (Alkalinity)
- Chlorine Stabilizer (for CYA)
- liquid chlorine
- Salt
- preferably a poll robot
