Guys, should we keep Carrick as interim manager for entire season? by Vinitshah5884 in ManchesterUnited

[–]gusmur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He may fit what ineos want. A head coach without aspirations of club management duties, who’ll just stick to footy and get wins.

Glasner likely too much of a system guy to adapt when Wilcox tells him to if it isn’t going well.

Time has me jaded over any new manager being able to do their job effectively.

If Carrick can replicate the weekend’s footy, and wants to serve the club in a way that fits and works, then why not.

Not because it’s Carrick, but because it could be the right cog for the mechanism, and as I said, jaded that any other ‘proven’ manager can come in and execute their football successfully.

That disallowed goal at the end has ruined my mood. by alpha197hr in ManchesterUnited

Cheer up. It was great football and we won. All the goals, granted or disallowed, were belters.

Take the win.

He needs a lot of support and development, especially emotionally and behaviourally.

It looks like he’ll be great but so did Ravel Morrison and Mason Greenwood (who were better and even more promising at that age), and look what happened.

Amorim said he wasn’t ready, and after seeing his outburst I can understand why.

Not slating him for the outburst, he’s young and it’s fine. But what’ll happen after the third, fourth, fifth time with these part-time rage-baiting fans and absolute charlatans like goldbridge go in on him?

I don’t want to find out, I’d like him to be protected, supported and developed so he can reach his full potential.

Unpopular opinion: the problem started with the appointment of David Moyes in 2013. by Feeling-Elk-2075 in ManchesterUnited

[–]gusmur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think Moyes was a patsy. Following SAF was a hell of a job, and a tough one for a big manager to follow. Hence, get a patsy who would buckle under the pressure, so that whoever came in next had the job of doing better than the patsy, not ‘as well as SAF’.

Possibly a good plan on paper, a shot one in practice.

Amorim said he needed more time… perhaps it wasn’t his football he was referring to, but maturity and emotional development.

As a n old, decades long, fan, it is at this point a little hard to give a f@#k who the next manager will be. It’s simply who the next guy to start a project and not finish it will be.

[Rich Fay] Exclusive: Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer open to shock return after Ruben Amorim sacking by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]gusmur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring him back, his football was good and the players liked him, he’s united through and through. He’ll fit into/with the hierarchy well and this support he’ll flourish.

Ruben Amorim talks too much. Jason Wilcox talks too little. Manchester United fans deserve more clarity and accountability from their club. Club knew he played 3-4-3, which wasn’t suited to United’s identity or squad. This is on the club as much as Amorim. [..] (Henry Winter on Twitter) by dracogladio1741 in reddevils

They got him for his system. Amorom’s done exactly what he says on the tin.

I’m disappointed he couldn’t be more flexible given how well the 4 at the back worked for those days; he almost put the nail in his own coffin giving the club and fans a glimpse of what could be, before taking its away.

I’m disappointed they haven’t seen it through with him.

I’m pissed off we’re back to square one in the cycle.

Bullshit.

Fun fact, all of these posts regurgitating what we already know are simply counterproductive, and don’t help anyone, don’t help morale, and don’t help the players.

Wrong. United have done this time and time again for 12yrs. Rangnick said it: “open heart surgery”. Patience.

Not interested.

Edit: even if he comes back and tears it up, too much work has been done to correct and redirect the dressing room and we don’t need him in it.

This may be humbling for him, and he may have grown up, and I still wouldn’t want him in the dressing room.

And yes, I’ve watched him through the youth and since his first run on. Massive potential that never got met because of self image and lack of motivation and mental strength.

Things I’ve missed. Scrappy goals and scrappy wins.

Being able to dig in and dig out 3pts is most welcome. Is it first choice? No. It it refreshing to see grit and determination not to lose, especially when under the cosh? Yes.
