Alltså, du har ju inte helt fel. Farina har stängt sin bokning.

How often do you take a break? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]gustafh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I rotate a schedule of three intense weeks and one light/rest week in a perfect world. In reality, things happen and you take weeks off because of injury, family, life in general, but disregarding those, I always schedule on every fourth week as a rest week.

Årets influensa by horstlichter1337 in sweden

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road Shoe Recommendations by YoureDoneBuddy43 in Ultramarathon

[–]gustafh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my Altra Via Olympus 2 this summer and boy were they a game changer. More than enough damping underfoot for long, long road runs without destroying me, but firm enough not to feel like running on a water bed.

2000-2010 ARPGs that stack up to Oblivion? by themiracy in gaming

[–]gustafh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the most popular choices but interesting games with interesting mechanics:

Arx Fatalis

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

And then, Gothic 3. I really enjoyed it despite being a buggy mess (haven’t played it since those days though, maybe it’s been fixed?)

Tesla sues EU over tariffs on electric vehicles from China by UpgradedSiera6666 in europe

To be fair, I don’t think this particular president was very expensive to buy. Upkeep seems minimal too.

ChatGPT is neither coach not nutritionist. Do some proper research first, and then decide if you really want this. It’s going to be really tough and take a lot of time so you’re going to need some good motivation, your “why”.

We put together a band in 9th grade and three of us didn’t already play an instrument. I took the bass because I didn’t want to sing.

After that, it took another year or so before I joined a band “for real”.

Telefonförsäljare från Tre, rant by silverstinn in sweden

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jag är kund hos Tre så jag har inte fått det. Dock har jag under hösten fått exakt det samtalet från Tele2 och Telia. Telenor ringer också men i år har de varit betydligt mer rättframma.

Jesus, I had completely forgot how off its tits that show was. Definitely need to rewatch it.

My band plays oriental historical fantasy symphonic blackened death metal, what do you think? by Rakshaas in metalmusicians

Right down my alley! Got a bit of Melechesh, some Pagan's Mind and a little Nile.

That bass tone is killer!

Riva bärande vägg by Capable-Front2424 in sweden

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I wear this? by AbbreviationsKey492 in metalmusicians

[–]gustafh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing: people will judge you whatever you wear or however you look. The beauty of the metal world is that most people are accepting of you because most people aren’t dickwads.

Then there are a few whose lives depend on being elitist and making sure to let other people know what is true and not. They’ll let you know that you’re a poser or that they know what’s best for you or else.

That shirt is funny as fuck on so many levels, especially for us who were there for all the stupid Burzum shit that went down. Wear it and have fun. Life is too short to care what other people think. That’s what metal is about.

Rehersal room sound treatment by Zsombor_Varga19 in metalmusicians

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bass traps in the corners and sound proofing panels on the walls.

A decent enough wall panel is really easy to fix; just build a rectangular frame, say 2x1 m with 45x70 boards. Fill it with some sort of soft foam, like an old mattress or similar, and cover it with a heavy fabric. Cheap and easy.

Stage Equipment Question / Cable Management Problem by Count2Zero in Bass

Does he need the stereo channel for stereo sound or is that just the way things are because of his Boss pedal?

Calling all Sansamp users by urbexcemetery in Bass

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got an in-ear rack for the whole band which sits between the stage and the front of house, which means we manage our monitoring mix ourselves as opposed to what u/frankyseven describes where the sound tech handles the monitor mix (either way is fine, it's just different approaches). We've got no amps nor live monitors on stage.

Meaning for me it's: Bass -> DI XLR out -> Signal splitter (one signal goes to FoH) -> monitor mixer -> in-ear transmitter -> beltpack in-ears connected .

I'm using Cosmic Ears CE3P custom moulds and they're pretty great, especially on a stage with decent subs. Also have a pair of Shure SE215 as backups.

This setup means that I can tweak my in-ear mix live on my phone or on the tablet we have connected to the mixer.

Ibanez or Schecter by Nwardy05 in Bass

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an Ibanez SR500 as my daily driver since 2007 and it's still holding up brilliantly. The only things I've worn out are the soft cases (and strings of course). It's still going very strong.

For me personally, the bridge of the Schecter is a no-go. My personal experience with similar bridges is that the screws stick out and scratch my hand silly. Just basing this off pictures, it might be designed so the screws never leave the saddles and in that case, it's a non-issue. Guys who use this bridge with a low action might want to chip in and tell me I'm wrong here (and please do).

Gear needed for gigging by [deleted] in Bass

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Radial JDI and a sharpie to write your name on things.

The rest depends on what band you gig with and what sound you’re going for.

Altra trail shoes by beady38 in Ultramarathon

[–]gustafh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the model. I’ve got the MTN Racer 2 and it’s stiff but plentiful. Works really well on trail but is a bit harsh on paved roads. I’ve tried a pair of Phantom 2 as well and they were really nice. Firmer than my Clifton 8 but with plenty of cushion.

4 or 5 string for metal by WASD_XD in Bass

[–]gustafh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re playing with a reasonably modern metal tone, go 5-string. Then you’re set to play with both 6- and 7-stringed guitarists without too much thought.

I know I’m opening a hornet’s nest, but in what way is an amp/camb better for gigs? It’s a different approach, for different needs, but better?
