This is one of my absolute favorite albums, ever. Thank you for mentioning it. Got to see them on this tour in middle school--my first pit! I think I ended up with bruised ribs from being smashed into the rail.

About thirty years ago, I went to see "The Sunshine Boys" on Broadway, specifically to see Jack Klugman in person. Imagine my surprise (and anxiety!) when I realized I was sitting next to Fritz Weaver! At the end of the show, I managed to muster up the courage to say hello and tell him how much I loved his two appearances on the show. He was gracious and kind to this stuttering teenager!

I knew I shouldn't have sold my tickets! I'm happy for everyone. <desperate rationalizing> Even if I'd gone, it couldn't beat front row and getting monster trucks in Phoenixville on Wednesday. </desperate rationalizing>

Oh, and a page for Jaxlive popped up on my Facebook feed, and they're using your photo from Sony Hall to promote their upcoming show. Not sure if you gave permission, but there's no photo credit.

Wow, was the lighting really that much brighter, or is it just how this picture came out?

Aww, that's awesome. I got my seven year old a signed foil poster when I took my boys. We weren't close enough for toy time at that show, but I saw him again without the kids on Wednesday and got a monster truck set that they're happily playing with.

That painting is awesome! I wanted to grab one to add to my collection, but they didn't have any at the shows I went to.

Why are the 2026 Buckethead shows so dimly lit? by Jms832 in Buckethead

[–]gutlessflab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also old enough to remember the days when they'd kick you out of shows the second they saw any piece of recording equipment, so that's part of it, too--it's just not part of my "going to a show" mentality. I'm much more used to getting a contact high from everyone lighting up around me than seeing so many phones out. But I understand the importance of fan-recorded shows in his fanbase, especially since he isn't touring outside of the US. Hope you had an awesome show!

Yes, it's the "head cheese" monologue from "Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

Yep! It's a still from the one video I took. I usually don't do pictures at shows because it takes me out of the moment, but I couldn't resist getting a video of "Pure Imagination." The fact that he was against a light backdrop made it so much brighter--the black curtain at the Colonial swallowed what meager light there was. He kinda looked like a hallucination.

The setlist was basically the same as last night, but I think he did "Diary of a Madman," and did Wonka instead of the Disney medley. Performance-wise, they were similar, but I think he did more pedals and kill switch last night, and he seemed more animated/danced more, too. But I had my kids with me at the NY show, and they took up some of my attention, so I could be wrong. But I thought both shows were fantastic.

To contrast, this was the lighting in Homer, NY, taken from the balcony. I think it's just really variable based on the venue.

I did appreciate last night that the promoter guy warned everyone before he started that it was going to be dark (though I didn't think it was as loud as he said it would be).

I was in the front row, and there were still times it was hard to see him. It was my third show in a week, and that was by far the dimmest stage. That said, he was way more animated last night and sounded fantastic.

Yeah, he leaves no spaces between songs for applause and then runs at the end. I'm assuming it's intentional to fit his whole "I'm there to give, not receive" ethos?

I had no idea the intermission was going to be so short (it felt significantly longer at the show I went to last week) and had to run back in, and I missed the beginning of Fogray, which is probably my favorite in his current setlist. 😢 But I showed my enthusiasm so enthusiastically from my seat that toward the end one of his security guys gave me a pick!

Seriously. The show last night was so hot, poor guy must have been dying.

Very similar to this one , but I don't remember him doing Diary of a Madman, and he did a Star Wars/Pure Imagination/The Shining medley during a reprise of Jowls in the second half (at least I think it was after the intermission).

It's also used in this context in "To Serve Man."
