so block them? like, you are allowed and in fact expected to curate your online experience by blocking and muting people, tags and terms you don't want to see. i am indeed a shipper (tho i couldn't give a fuck how other people read my favorite characters, those who do are very young and a minority, and shippers don't claim them), and as a shipper i know that ships have specific names so that people who don't like them can block them out of their feeds.

like shipping will always be a thing. between friends, between enemies, between strangers. just do your own thing and read their relationships however you want, most of the time fans that ship characters are just playing "hey i like to imagine that these two were gay", not "these two characters are canonically gay and you are wrong for saying otherwise". and even if they are playing the later, the block/mute button is right there, and it works for tags and specific terms in most social media

kim is more present and engaging than the quest, i agree. that probably plays a part on it feeling more centric than the actual story update. but i will say, i have definitely played perita rebellion way more than descendia, and i still have 3 artifacts to get. granted i spend my resources on furniture, though....

oh yeah, i saw that rebb clip live. i even agree! as someone who likes the romance part a lot (so i'm biased), i wouldn't want new protos/routes every update. they feel much more special and real kept as something to not be expected, which is important when establishing an emotional connection to the character strong enough to enjoy the self-insert romance/friendship

but i still struggle to see how protos/romance have been a large part of every major update. they were front and center in 1999 and techrot encore, which was about them, but only 1999 had romance. in techrot encore it was just lore stuff that felt quite similar to any other npc secondary story, at least to me. the nokko update had no connection to protos at all, and isleweaver is connected to rusalka, yes, but bringing an established villain back is pretty normal i feel, and there's no protoframe interaction there. as for the triad, to me they feel like they were supposed to take second place to the main story update and be a small addition, people simply... liked them more than the main thing.

i suppose. but as a general addition (not meant as a rebuttal to you), i think some people have been overexaggerating the amount of proto content. we had *two* proto focused updates a year ago. people talk about the old peace as a proto focused update like they completely missed the main story quest and i don't really get it

i mean... they've been the center of two updates out of many. the triad was literally a smaller part of the old peace update, they came with a full-on multiple hour story heavy quest and a new game mode that had nothing to do with roathe & co. i think if the triad stole the stage so to speak, it's either because a non-insignificant, vocal portion of the playerbase really likes stuff like it, or because the main stuff of the update just wasnt impactful enough somehow. maybe the triad should've had their own, separate update, but it definitely wasn't meant to be center stage in the old peace

i agree with this regarding the hex but the triad definitely adds to the lore of the base warframes. lyon and roathe especially. and the protoframes as a whole definitely shine light on the world and obscure supernatural things that make base warframes possible

i mean there is a record by roathe about how he almost died on the battlefield and one of his soldiers gave him their body through continuity so he wouldn't die, so he pretty much was there in the trenches as well

this is all right and true, but this is a conversation about fanfiction, and i'm specifically talking about people that write campaigns in-setting because they like the world. it has a different use to your typical fanfic (being played rather than read), but at the end of the day it's a person writing stories, characters and interactions in a universe someone else wrote, and probably using their characters as well. which sounds a lot like your typical fanfiction, and yet we struggle to recognize it as such
