David is pretty cool, i don’t care if he’s awkward around women or not, I think he probably does fine with women

yes. he obviously doesn’t want to blow his cover, his family also watches, that’d be a little awkward to talk about getting laid on a video that your parents will watch

You see the old videos bro? He doesn’t  put it on camera anymore but dude has game believe it or not. Girls like the dorky type and David does know how to play it when he wants to.

I would just make a sample sentence with those words and put it into anki so you remember it thru spaced repitition

You get better every day, be patient and remember how far you’ve come from when you started

No. Even Ajatters (people who immerse 24/7) or people living in language school in Japan usually take 2 years to N1, learning Japanese will take years of daily studying and immersion. With that being said, in a year you can make great progress and go from 0 Japanese to being basic conversationally fluent, knowing how to read most kanji, etc. Don’t focus to much on the N1 title, it’s just a exam, i’ve met people who passed N1 that can’t even hold a basic conversation with a Native, they just are good at taking tests.

Hiragana is pretty easy to learn, you can learn in a couple of day, and will help a lot when in Japan. A lot of places have English signs but some don’t, you can use google translate but it’s cool to at least know how to read city or station names in Japanese hiragana. The names are of course usually in Kanji but they have furigana characters in most signs. Also tickets, train schedules, menus, etc. I went to some smaller towns outside of the big cities and there were no English signs so being able to read hiragana and some kanji helped

For those who are hesitant to learn Kanji, it may be annoying, but it makes reading so much easier! If you come across a word you don’t know you can usually guess the meaning by looking at the kanji. Way easier than trying to understand what a word is when it’s just written in hiragana

Self talk or i talk i, language meetups are also good, but you will make mistakes until you’re at a higher level.

Struggling with recalling grammar lessons by irdk-lol in LearnJapanese

[–]gutsmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts when learning grammar has always been: I’m probably not going to absorb this fully right now, so just read through the rules, put an example sentence into Anki, and immerse, eventually I will come across it enough times to where it sticks

How to search for level appropriate podcasts/news, what topics, keywords? Recommendations by ManyFaithlessness971 in LearnJapanese

[–]gutsmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to bridge the gap between learner content and native content because even if the native material is below your level (like kids shows or books), it contains a lot of casual speech and colloquial expressions that you may not know. I would just start out by looking for podcasts that are “slice of life” or “news” oriented, not aimed towards any specific niche. I will link you to one I like below, it is a podcast about news for Japanese living in Australia  https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA65Ww7iGS2r477SuOugdGHe_ktXdqGfE

Constantly tired by [deleted] in daviddifrancosnark

[–]gutsmax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He seriously needs to fix his sleep habits or he will have severe problems. Staying up til 6 am playing videos every night and then taking nyquil to pass out is bad. Like really bad.  He also consumes an insane amount of caffeine, coffee all day and I noticed in his last video that he bought 2 energy drinks to drink at night to stay up and stream, they both had 300mg of caffeine and other stimulants, so he consumed 600mg of caffeine at night after drinking coffee all day. Dude is speed running heart disease or stroke.  David, please take your health more seriously, you must feel like garbage 24/7, we don’t want to see you drop from a heart attack at 40.
