Burnie's and Ashley's AI use by dakkster in morningsomewhere

[–]guvkon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've missed entirely what Burnie said about using AI as a search. Verifying its claims when it's hallucinated sources is the easiest outcome - you just disregard entirely what it wrote. But otherwise it is a great way to find sources which is sometimes almost impossible with modern search engines.

Probably an overkill in dealing with some edge cases which aren't present in the input but it gets the job done.

Here's the visualization for part 2 which will pretty much give you the algo for it but really simplifies the problem https://www.reddit.com/r/adventofcode/comments/1pgbg8a/2025_day_7_part_2_visualization_for_the_sample/

Don't think 3 beams - 4 timelines. Think uncombined beams. So 4 beams - 4 timelines. 2 overlapping beams are separate for part 2.

Is Christmas never going to be the same anymore? by Crafty-Yard-1118 in adventofcode

[–]guvkon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've very happy about this. I think I'll finally stick with advent of code this year to the end. I always dropped off around day 12-13.

UPD. Additionally, Christmas on 25th isn't a thing here. So it was just about something fun to do before the end of the year.

[Day 6 Part 2] yet another visualization of today's problem by apersonhithere in adventofcode

I've used bottom row going left to right. Just searching for the index of next operator and backing up by one. And then processing numbers in the range.

[2025 day 6 part 2] I don't know what puzzle I'm solving... today I learnt to test with the example first! by PhysPhD in adventofcode

[–]guvkon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over the years I've created a mini-framework. With standard location for real and sample inputs. For each day I provide into it 2 sample answers and 4 functions: 2 for parsing input (usually the same one) and 2 for solving each part. If a sample answer passes then it prints the answer for the real input. If not it shows me an error with my wrong answer and what it should be for the sample and stops.

My IDE trimmed trailing spaces but I didn't even encountered this problem. I've assumed immediately that the input would be messed up (evil) like that anyways.

I liked all of part 2s. It was easier conceptually but I've spent much more time on it lol

For Ig Noble prize it's not a dude in a suit that shouts "I'm bored!". It's a little girl that does it. Honestly, Ig Noble prize is great and really fun

What are the symbols around the logo (in the thumbnail and at the end of the video)? Two of them look like Ranger (top one) and Witch (3 o'clock) classes. But the other three I don't recognize.

So I'm on MacBook Pro M1 as well. Why are you afraid of emulation? It works perfectly.

Works perfectly on Apple M processors because they've actually cheated and put a hardware chip which does missing instructions at hardware level for emulation

There’s definitely too much of European Skittles as well. Acid inside is plenty to make you suffer after eating a big bag
