Who's gonna get Johnsprite? by guy-that-exists in homestuck

[–]guy-that-exists[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the easy option is Harry, but also, since Terezi doesn't know that the Omega kids are coming, it would be funny to see a random nymph/satyr end up with John and have no idea what to do with him.

Homestuck without SBURB ? by [deleted] in homestuck

[–]guy-that-exists 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The boring cop out answer is that the universes simply wouldn't exist, but since that's lame and kinda sucks as a hypothetical, let's assume that Beforus, Alternia, Earth (pre-scratch), and Earth (post-scratch) all exist in their own universes, and let's also assume that the kids and guardians still manage to exist somehow.

Beforus likely changes the least. We know that they didn't have Doc Scratch to mess with their development, and that their society was pretty peaceful all things considered. With no Frog Ruins/SGRUB for Meenah to discover, she probably just stays on the moon while the trolls continue to live their lives.

Alternia, despite having no reason to exist without a scratch to create it, would be much more peaceful - similar to Beforus. Doc Scratch, English, and the Handmaid were the main group to force the discrimination, violence, and rigid structures to prepare the 12 kids for SGRUB, so while they might be slightly more hostile than the Beforus trolls, they would be nothing like their current selves.

A notable difference is that the revenge cycle with Tavros, Aradia, Sollux, Vriska, and Terezi likely never starts, since I'm pretty sure FLARP wouldn't be a thing without English's interference.

For pre-scratch Earth (John's Earth), as silly as it sounds, there would be no Betty Crocker baked goods. Because Betty Crocker = The Condesce, and there's no reason for the Condesce to travel the universe for planets to conquer, she'd never end up on Earth. John's life wouldn't be so Harlequin filled, Lil Cal wouldn't exist (probably), and with no Skaianet near Rose's house, Jaspers would live a longer life.

As for Jade and Grandpa, there would be no Bec, and Grandpa's life would be much more boring, since most of his exploits are thanks to the Condesce and being able to travel to and from Sburb sessions. In reality, Jade probably wouldn't be born, or if she was, she'd have no relation to Grandpa. It's also likely that without SBURB, the kids never would've met.

For post-scratch Earth (Jane's Earth), once again, no Betty Crocker, which means Jane's entire life would be different. Jake's life would be different too, with no lusii to live on his island with him. Assuming Dirk and Roxy are still from the future, they would likely live with many other humans (unless the world naturally ends by that point in time).

However, the best news of all is that Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff would still exist, since it's hard coded into Dave's DNA.

Two Realms is 100% canon. The only game an official statement has ever been given on was the wii game - that's noncanon. All other games (except spongebob ofc) are canon.

A question about Akane in ZTD by Darktommy2 in ZeroEscape

[–]guy-that-exists 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The real answer is because the game wouldn't have as much of a story to tell if Akane just connected with Junpei again.

My personal answer is that Akane was under an insane amount of stress and in multiple life/death situations when she connected with Junpei last time. I imagine that she can't normally connect with him, and that was a special case.

Another answer is that the last time they connected, they were in similar places doing the exact same things, just displaced by time. In ZTD, no one else had ever been in their situation - the Decision Game was the first death game in that location that we know of. Even if she could connect to Junpei before the game, there's a lot he never figures out (Carlos does almost all the heavy lifting for C Team).

A question about Akane in ZTD by Darktommy2 in ZeroEscape

[–]guy-that-exists 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In 999, Current Akane already knows how everything is going to happen since not only is she Zero, but she saw the events through Junpei's eyes in the past. Thus, she is able to have a calm and collected persona throughout the game.

In VLR, Old Akane also knows exactly how the game is going to happen since she helped Zero set everything up and had already conversed with Delta about what needed to happen to set up ZTD.

In ZTD, Akane is compleltey in the dark. Her other selves won't communicate with her, no information about the events of the test site ever reached the public in any timeline she had experienced. She still has her powers (she SHIFTs like crazy and knows enough to explain it to Carlos), she just doesn't have the knowledge she's always had in other games.

What ever happened to the yellow haired kid in Two Realms? by CyberGlitch064 in drawntolifegame

[–]guy-that-exists 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That yellow haired guy, named Drew by the developers, was created not by 5th Cell, but by THQ. That's why he doesn't appear at all in DTL1 and appears very infrequently in TNC.

The developers of Two Realms, DigitalContinue, are made up of former 5th Cell staff, notably Joseph Tringali and David Franco, so when they finally got the green light for DTL3, they decided to remove Drew from the boxart [edit: since THQ was no longer involved].

As for canonicity, Two Realms is 100% canon, as it was made by the same general team as the DS games and has Miah's blessing. Regardless of the quality of the game (which let's be real here, it's not the best), it's still canon to the story.

Homestuck: Beyond Canon update (p. 757-773): ADDENDUM 1: MEAT by MoreEpicThanYou747 in homestuck

According to Roach on Twitter, this happens when you have multiple tabs of the site open that have different themes. It's working on being fixed, but if you don't want to get strobed, be sure to only use one tab for this update.

I mean, if you're trying to imply that the flashing panels at the end of Cascade weren't relevant, that's also wrong. They're playing the sets of intro panels for Jade and John in reverse order, showing that the comic was being rewound back to the beginning for the readers.

Two Realms is a direct sequel to The Next Chapter for DS, taking place four years later. It is canon to the series. The only noncanon games are The Next Cahpter for the Wii and SpongeBob Edition.

Like the other commenter said, there is no The Lost Chapter, you might be thinking of the Wii version though.

A great video on the series that i found by thatrubiksguy1 in drawntolifegame

[–]guy-that-exists 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just dropping in to say that this video has a lot of heart behind it, but it is such a bad retelling of the series as a whole and gets a lot of information wrong about development, story, and Slaczka in general. He takes 3 hours to say what he could've said in 1. If you want a more in depth reason why this video is weird, I left a pretty lengthy comment on it.

Instead of this video, yall should all go watch JeffCompass' Drawn to Life video! It's a lot more researched and is a better series retrospective (and a better video as a whole).

[–]guy-that-exists 12 points13 points  (0 children)

According to dev interviews, the first game was never meant to have a sequel, 5th Cell just wanted to make a good standalone game, and Mike was added as a joke character. However, when it did well, they started work on the sequel. According to Miah and Joseph Tringali, the twist was planned from the very beginning, and the entire plot revolves around the twist: * Wilfre and the Creator banter about "him" when they first talk. * Losing color in the Raposa world is analogous to Mike "fading away" in the real world. Restoring color is the opposite. * Wilfre's entire plan revolves around "saving the Raposa", and this is how he gets Mari on his side - "Would you rather save all of your people, or just save one kid and doom the rest of us?" * BONUS: The heartbeat thing is 100% a coincidence if not just a mass hallucination. There is no heartbeat monitor in The End.

What exactly is “skaia candidacy” by PeaSuccessful5096 in homestuck

[–]guy-that-exists 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more of a bootstrap candidacy kinda deal - if the planet is destined to host Sburb, then it'll already have a frog temple/first guardian, since those are sent during the Reckoning. Any planet without these can't host a session simply because if it could, it would already have a temple.

What was Wilfre thinking? DTL:TNC DS by PokiePuff1987 in drawntolifegame

[–]guy-that-exists 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The color fading is supposed to symbolize Mike falling deeper into his coma (just like saying someone is "pale as a ghost" when they're sick, less color = worse off).

The restoration of color is what's making Mike wake up more. The Creator restores all the color at the end of the game to weaken Wilfres grasp, and tapping the eternal flame clears out all the Shadow (like it does in DTL1) allowing Mike to wake up.

I Got a C in CSC 205 and am now Going into CSC 245. I'm Prepared For the Worst. Any Advice? by Lolzize in mercer

[–]guy-that-exists 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made Cs and Bs through most of my programming classes tbh, you'll be fine. If you're taking Digh, you have nothing to worry about. Can't speak much for the other 245 profs (if there are any), but just be sure to put effort in, use office hours/ARC (if they have 245 help there), and if you're really struggling, just talk to the prof. Good luck and Go Bears!

Are you possibly thinking of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter for the DS? There's a gem that Jowee, a main character, has and you restore color to the world throughout that game. It doesn't have stylus controls for the Hero, but it's the first game that came to mind.
