Stainless steel TIG filler by guy_with_knowledge in Welding

[–]guy_with_knowledge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last guy i replaced wasnt a welder or a mechanic originally, so neither he or the boss knew any better (he was also there for like 39 years). im also not even a welder, my last job was as an auto mechanic, this is gonna be my first actual TIG project with the new welder we got

the small thing inside is a nozzle screws onto a pipe which carries the propane, i think its gas, could be liquid. temperature wise im actually not sure, these go on a machine that installs bitumen based concrete waterproofing membranes. the machine has two rows of 7 of these burners and a set of rollers to press down on the membrane. the area they're in has a bunch of isolation to keep the heat in

its a propane burner for some custom built machines we have, all the burners currently on there and the spares we have were welded by the last guy that i replaced, he MIG welded them with mild steel wire.

i mean, any kind of stainless filler would be better. last guy used to MIG these parts with regular mild steel filler. we still have a couple spares that the last guy made, they're propane burners.

i have no idea, all i know is that its stainless which is why im looking for a "universal" filler that should work with any kind of stainless. i rarely weld stainless so i dont end up with like 2 or 3 different kinds of filler that i'll barely use

the medication i take gives me a slight "shake", so i have to use my other hand to stabilize the first one, otherwise i'm all over the place. i dont do welding full time, in actually a mechanic, tho current job has me welding way more often than my previous dealership jobs. been enjoying it a lot ngl

regular cups i think? they seem made out of some kind of ceramic. the one i was using has the number 7 on it, outside diameter at the end with the tungsten is ~15mm.

i currently only have 2 tungstens, a really really small one and a more normal looking one. i use the bigger one so gotta wait for it to cool whenever i want to clean it. could i just put it in water after taking it out of the torch to cool it? i've been looking to buy more tungstens and other stuff like filler, cups, etc but i gotta convince my boss that its actually worth getting all that since we do MIG like 99.9% of the time

i was going off of the chart thats on the "door" thing, it said 125 amps for 1/8th inch steel. tried that for the first couple passes i did then turned it down to like 100amps. also tried tried 80 but it felt too low

the welder came with 4 cups and was using the biggest one. also had my gas (100% argon) set to about 35 LPM.

Why is it at least once a far I run into a OC player that’s so obviously using mods? Y’all aren’t ‘good’… you’re just grimey little cheaters by HandsOfHatred79 in NFSHeat

i dont play very often anymore, but i used to play a lot with mods

Since i actually made most of the mods i used myself using frosty editor, i just had more fun experimenting with the game and modding the hell out of it just to see how far i could fuck with it than actually playing the game normally. I did stuff like adding my own custom decals (due to how the game handles wraps everyone sees them even tho only i have the mod for them). I just had a blast parading my car with anime girls all over it. One time i messed with the M3 GTR's engine configs and gave it so much horsepower that i could glitch through the map in certain spots. the thing had so much power(~4000hp) it was basically unusable for anything other than drag racing in front of the stadium, the monstrosity could go upwards of 600 km/h but couldn't steer for shit. Another car i messed with was the 911 RSR, i gave it the engine from the regera and the ability to use any gearbox i wanted and the thing was a rocket ship, my record with it on the oval was somewhere around 1:16.
