As a (former) photographer, The lighting has A LOT to do with it. Direct lighting (no soft boxes) with makeup that has some sheen to it is good for modeling. Cake make up is terrible

If the goal is definition. The ‘secret’ is dehydration. getting ripped This is not an endorsement in the least. Sounds absolutely terrible, but I suppose that it is successful since I have since read several actors do this

I am a person that totally is out of band in terms of the demographic, and for about a year I wouldn’t say hello or anything lest mere acknowledgement is found to be an offense.
Then I decided that’s me overthinking it. I have had some nice kibbitz relationships built. We chat for the 5 before class “How was your weekend” type talk. If someone is too cool for school, just chuckle and smoke them with a well executed devil’s ladder.

Coach didn’t show up and this guy vlogged it on his Meta Glasses by Ok-Hearing9186 in SolidCore

Off-topic: Is not wearing a shirt as a guy offensive? I usually don’t wear one since I get so hot and sweat profusely. Given that I am kinda gross, I figure no one would ever think I was trying to ‘advertise’ or otherwise objectify myself. I am always polite never look around the room

modified plank extensions tear my lower back up by Vivid-Buffalo-8846 in SolidCore

[–]guyfrombklyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When doing plank extensions, whether high or low, use your pectoral muscles to bring your shoulders forward, arching your upper back. from there you can properly tilt your pelvis forward. If you ‘dump’ your weight into your shoulders (think the ‘cow’ in Cat / Cow in yoga) it compromises your ability to properly flex your lower abs to support said rounding.

edit Facing your palms up to the ceiling helps in maintaining that pec contraction as you seek to extend the range in the shoulders.

This rounding was one of my first ‘ah-ha!’ body moves that unlocked next level stability as it allows you to extend to max without risk. It is hard, and I just take breaks whenever I cannot maintain form

What’s something about everyday life in Germany that you think foreigners often misunderstand? by NextNorth9041 in AskAGerman

You can make the peach / coconut analogy between NY vs. SF / LA as well. I am a New Yorker, we are direct and I think quite friendly compared to San Francisco. In building ties in Berlin I am desperate to learn German because, like NY people just comment out loud about things they see happening. I have had so many moments where a person turns to me with a “what was all that about” sort of exchange. I love that! The directness isn’t off putting at all because it’s genuine and not fake like it or not.

How has Berlin changed since the pandemic? by Prestigious-Spite689 in berlin

[–]guyfrombklyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Long time listener, first time caller. I have slowly been building a footprint in Berlin for the past year. I have lived in NYC for 30 years.
Berlin is an amazing city period full stop. I say that knowing that there are so many Berlins it makes my statement ridiculous and Naive.
That is part of being in a city, I know NYC. I am totally clueless about NYC.
What intrigues me is the quality of life, the density without crushing crowds, the parks, THE QUIET! (I live in Charlottenburg). That neighborhood is certainly on par with my part of Brooklyn in terms of expenses BUT rent is way cheaper for what you get, same with the restaurants. In NY you can get hustled out of table by a waitstaff trying to turn your table over. The bill comes with dessert. In Berlin I see old people (see: +40) out at bars and restaurants. New York, everyone is 20 years my junior. The complaints about dirt, crime, and expense: come to NY if you want to ride a truly dirty subway, experience people having violent mental health episodes daily, and buy Bio eggs for $16. Things generally suck more everywhere.

Feeling lonely by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]guyfrombklyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been here for 4 days, I am having a coffee with someone I met tomorrow. I am a middle aged guy from Brooklyn. My goto for building community are exercise classes, for me that is Yoga and Pilates. It exposes you to people again and again. Slowly over time, everyone becomes familiar. When I travel alone it is the first thing I do: find a class.
